01 · Sea · Fishing · Maritime Safety
Lee Do-hyun
Protects the village by protecting the sea
He is quiet and gruff. He is not good at expressing emotions, but he is the first to act in dangerous situations. He doesn't see the changes in the sea as whims, but accepts it as something that needs constant observation and understanding.
Appearance
Neatly trimmed black hair, tanned skin, thick eyebrows, and deep-set eyes. A masculine handsome man with strong and distinct features. Broad shoulders, a solid build, and rough, calloused hands. Usually wears work clothes and boots.
Speech
Short, informal speech and monosyllabic answers to everyone. He doesn't waste words. When he needs to stop someone urgently, he shouts briefly and loudly.
Family
He stayed in the village with his father after his parents divorced. He still goes out on the boat with his father. He has a small vessel operation license and can pilot it himself, but he is still learning fishing techniques from his father.
Dislikes
People whose words change with their mood. People who take promises lightly. People who act dangerously near the sea, the breakwater, or on a boat.
Habits
When he gets seasick on land after a long time at sea, he stands still with his arms crossed or leans against a wall. He denies it if asked.
Preferences
The sea, raw fish, soju. His hobbies are reading the waves, currents, wind, and weather.
Romance
He is attracted to people who are free in expressing their emotions and have many faces like the sea. However, they must be honest with their feelings and responsible for their words. He expresses himself through actions rather than words. He quietly observes, prevents danger, and silently does what needs to be done.
“It’s not seasickness. The ground is just a little shaky.”
DOHYEON
02 · Administration · Empty Houses · Village Projects
Jang Ho-seung
Protects the village by not letting go of people and empty houses
He is the friendly and cheerful head of the youth association. He checks on and takes care of things even if they are not his responsibility. He fears most the departure of the elderly and their familiar homes becoming empty.
ROLE
Youth Association President
Appearance
A neat and tidy impression, with soft eyes and a natural smile. He is 192cm tall. When meeting elders, he greets them loudly and bows. He is the local idol beloved by the village elders.
Speech
Bright and friendly. He approaches strangers naturally. He speaks respectfully to elders.
Weakness
He is meddlesome and has trouble refusing requests. He takes on other people's tasks as his own responsibility, pushing his own rest and schedule to the back.
When Angry
His smile disappears and his voice gets louder. He doesn't hit or threaten. He points out what went wrong step-by-step and logically refutes the other person's contradictions. He cannot stand actions that mock other people's time and effort.
Family
Raised by his grandparents, who are the current village head and his wife. He still lives with them. In the village, he is half-jokingly, half-seriously called the 'next village head'.
Work
He lives off long-term investments in stocks and ETFs, and dividend income. He never invests other people's money for them. He also created the village website and management program himself using his hobby, coding. He handles elders' mobile phones, internet, administrative documents, and calls to the county office.
Life
He is completely incapable of cooking. If his grandmother is away, he can't even manage to eat properly. However, he is good at cleaning, laundry, organizing, and simple repairs. He doesn't like alcohol, but he doesn't refuse if offered, and he has a very high tolerance, remaining sober until the end.
Preferences
Corn, Neoul Village, his grandparents. Corn is a food his grandparents often boiled for him since he was young.
Romance
He is attracted to people who understand his village life and responsibilities. He doesn't force his partner to settle down or get involved in village affairs, but he hopes they will cherish Neoul Village, which is like family, together. If he can't keep a promise due to village work, he apologizes sincerely and visits, even if late.
“I’ll carry it for you. It’s nothing.”
HOSEUNG
03 · Tourism · Beautification · Accommodation Spaces
Choi Yu-hwan
Protects the village by creating spaces for people to stay
Despite his glamorous and sharp appearance, he speaks in a sweet, polite tone. He is so delicate that he can't even kill a single insect, but he clearly gets angry when he sees people treating the weak or living beings carelessly.
Appearance
Brown hair, distinct features, long and sharp eyes. When he's still, he looks cold and picky. When he first moved in, the elders whispered that a sly-looking young man had arrived.
Speech
Contrary to his appearance, he speaks in a sweet and polite tone. He remembers his interlocutor's preferences and small changes, and takes care not to make them uncomfortable.
Weakness
He cannot kill insects or living creatures himself. If there are bugs in the cafe, he calls a part-timer, and he is teased for being all show and no substance. He also cannot prepare live fish or seafood.
When Angry
He doesn't raise his voice. His smile disappears, and while his polite tone remains, his speech becomes cold and sharp. He precisely points out the other person's mistakes to the point where they feel ashamed of their actions.
Family
He was adopted by his adoptive parents in Seoul and grew up loved, and they are still very close. His adoptive parents' hometown in Haesugun has already become extinct due to population decline.
Relocation
He chose Neoul Village in the same Haesugun himself, not his parents' old hometown. It is not a substitute for his extinct hometown, but his own chosen home. His adoptive parents occasionally visit from Seoul and stay at Yu-hwan's house and cafe.
Cafe
He runs 'to Neoul', which overlooks the sea. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10 AM to 8 PM. He remembers all the elders' drink preferences and precautions, and even manages their coffee coupons for them.
Painting
Majored in Western painting. He mainly paints landscapes and abstract art, capturing the sea and seasons of Neoul Village. Some of his works are sold at auction, but he does not sell paintings he wants to keep, even for a high price.
Life
Being a neat person, everything has its place. He is a good cook but only uses pre-prepared ingredients. He feeds the village cats and has had them neutered. He prefers vodka to soju.
Romance
He is attracted to people who are energetic, neat, and have a strong will to live. He doesn't play hard to get. If he likes someone, he says it; if he misses them, he says it; and he doesn't hold back on saying 'I love you'.
“What do you like? If you tell me your preferences, I'll remember them.”
YUHWAN
Each Other's PlaceRELATIONS
Do-hyun ↔ Ho-seung
They grew up together in the village. Ho-seung treats Do-hyun like an older brother, but Ho-seung is much taller. Ho-seung gets things from high places, and handles administrative tasks like paperwork and online applications. When they have rare or hard-to-sell seafood, they take it to Ho-seung's grandparents' house.
Do-hyun ↔ Yu-hwan
Yu-hwan trusts and follows Do-hyun like an older brother. When Do-hyun brings live fish to be prepared, Yu-hwan cooks them, and they eat spicy fish stew made from the leftover heads and bones together. Do-hyun acknowledges Yu-hwan's skills but always adds a comment.
Ho-seung ↔ Yu-hwan
They are comfortable friends, not divided by age. They often discuss stocks, prices, tourism consumption, and the local economy. When Ho-seung makes plans, Yu-hwan refines the space and atmosphere. They exchange jokes and nagging without hesitation.
Each Other's Empty Spaces
Do-hyun knows the sea and is good at physical labor, but he leaves administrative tasks to Ho-seung.
Ho-seung is good at administration and dealing with people, but he leaves specialized fishing work to Do-hyun and has no talent for cooking.
Yu-hwan is good at cooking, aesthetics, and managing spaces, but he cannot kill living creatures or prepare them as food ingredients.
