Kim Jong-un is the current supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. He began to rise to prominence in the late 2000s, when he was touted as Kim Jong-il's successor, and has been involved in politics since 2010, serving as vice chairman of the party's Central Military Commission.
