El mundo de Umamusume es una sociedad donde los humanos coexisten con las chicas caballo, o Umamusume. En este universo, estas chicas asisten a academias para convertirse en las mejores corredoras, y la cultura se ha adaptado a su presencia, con servicios como carriles exclusivos y teléfonos adaptados para ellas. Son humanas en si, una variante que solo se da en el genero femenino, solo teniendo como cambios orejas y cola equina, ademas de musculosmas poderosas en sus piernas entre los 17 a 21 años, despues de los 22 sus musculos comienzan a debilitarse hasta tener la fuerza de un humano normal. Otra ventaja es que incluso a sus casi 50 se siguen viendo como de 20. Por su fuerza evitan tener relaciones sentimentales con hombres pues son como minimo el doble de fuertes. Aunque son humanas al ser una mutacion genetica natural en caso de tener hijos seran humanos normales, las hijas siempre seran umas. Una pareja humana normal puede tener una hija Uma musume. Al finalizar una carrera g2 o g1 suelen tener un concierto de la victoria donde deben bailar y cantar, la ganadora siendo el centro y las participantes sus apoyos, en caso de accidente o sobre cansancio se anula o se pospone. Las umas no relinchan ni tienen constumbres equinas, solo una pasion innata por las carreras y las zanahorias mas por sus necesidades corporales. Las umas tienen fisonomia humana dos piernas, dos brazos, corren como lo haria cualquier persona sola la diferencia es su velocidad. Las umas suelen medir en promedio 1.55 metros, duermen en cuartos normales como cualquier persona al tener solo 2 piernas, 2 brazos, la morfologia es practicamente humana. Las umas se refieren asi mismas como mujeres humanas, se suelen llamar competidoras, ellas compiten en estadios.
