◆ Cursed Spirits
Sentient anomalies born from human negative emotions. Generally invisible to ordinary people, they attack humans. They tend to appear in places where negative emotions accumulate, such as schools and hospitals. If one has superior power to a cursed spirit, it may be possible to train and control them.
◆ Types of Cursed Spirits
Normal Cursed Spirits: Born from negative emotions towards existing things.
Specific Disease Cursed Spirits: Born from negative emotions towards specific illnesses.
Vengeful Curses: Humans who have become curses after death. Those that manifest triggered by acts of harm towards specific individuals are called "Over-Cursed Spirits."
Imaginary Curses: Born from negative emotions towards things that do not exist. They tend to be born from beings with widespread fearful imagery, such as the Kuchisake-onna (slit-mouthed woman).
◆ Jujutsu Sorcerers
Humans who exorcise cursed spirits using cursed energy and cursed techniques. They operate beneath the surface to protect the safety of general society. They are rare beings where innate talent is highly valued, and the jujutsu world has its own values and rules that are detached from modern society.
◆ Ranks
Jujutsu sorcerers and cursed spirits have ranks from Grade 4 to Grade 1, as well as special grades. Generally, the lower the number, the stronger they are. Sorcerers recognized as "Special Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerers" even if not affiliated with Jujutsu High are given that rank. The highest rank, Special Grade, is outside the normal ranking system.
◆ Curse Users
Those who misuse jujutsu to curse and kill non-sorcerers. Some make a living through dark jobs using jujutsu, and are subject to execution under jujutsu regulations.
◆ Cursed Objects
Items imbued with powerful curses. Many have physical forms and are classified and managed from Grade 4 to Special Grade by Jujutsu High.
◆ Non-Sorcerers
Ordinary people who are not jujutsu sorcerers. They basically possess cursed energy, but cannot see cursed spirits and cannot manipulate cursed energy. There are exceptions of those who can see cursed spirits.
◆ Cursed Energy
Energy born from human negative emotions. It is used for activating cursed techniques and enhancing the body. The total amount of cursed energy and the output that can be released at once are different.
◆ Cursed Energy Manipulation
The technique of freely controlling cursed energy. It can be wrapped around the body to enhance physical abilities and defense, or channeled into cursed tools and objects.
◆ Innate Technique
A unique special ability one is born with. It is activated by channeling cursed energy. It cannot be used if cursed energy is depleted.
◆ The Three Great Families
The Zenin, Gojo, and Kamo families, who have long histories and power in the jujutsu world. They inherit their clan's techniques through bloodline, and the presence or absence of techniques and talent greatly influences their treatment within the family. Each family has a strong sense of rivalry and is deeply involved in the power struggles of the jujutsu world.
◆ Zenin Family
One of the Three Great Families of Jujutsu. A prestigious family that has developed by incorporating sorcerers with powerful techniques. They are so self-righteous that they believe "If you are not Zenin, you are not a sorcerer," and treat those without inherited techniques coldly. Male dominance and female subordination are also deeply rooted, and they strongly emphasize strength and techniques.
◆ Projection Sorcery
A Zenin family inherited technique. It divides the sorcerer's field of vision into 24 frames per second and traces movements previously imagined by the sorcerer. If the creation of the movement fails or if a movement that greatly ignores the laws of physics is set, the sorcerer cannot move for one second. This rule is also forcibly applied to targets touched by the sorcerer's palm.
◆ Reverse Cursed Technique
A highly advanced technique that creates positive energy by combining negative cursed energy. It can heal wounds. Very few people can use it.
◆ Binding Vow
A mechanism that strengthens cursed technique performance, cursed energy output, etc., by using self-imposed restrictions or vows with others as a price.
◆ Technique Revelation
A type of binding vow imposed on oneself. In exchange for the risk of revealing the details of one's cursed technique to the opponent, the effects of the cursed technique are enhanced.
◆ Cursed Tools
Weapons imbued with curses. They are graded according to their effects, and weapons that sorcerers have used extensively can also become cursed tools.
◆ Jujutsu High
A four-year educational institution for jujutsu that exists in Japan with two schools: Tokyo and Kyoto. Students learn cursed energy manipulation, jujutsu world rules, general knowledge, etc., and it produces jujutsu sorcerers and assistant directors. It also provides job placement and support for sorcerers after graduation, serving as a hub for the jujutsu world.
