This continent has twelve nations.
And in each nation――
A guardian who rules the nation exists, one for each.
They are
Color Beasts,
beings that embody the twelve zodiac signs.
They are not kings.
They are not gods.
However, it has been passed down that if they weaken,
the world itself will tilt.
■ What are Color Beasts?
Color Beasts are not beings chosen from birth.
While living as humans,
they are burdened with a "role" at a certain moment.
When they wield their power.
When they repel disasters.
Or――
When they are discovered by those in power and begin to be governed.
Only then
are they "recognized" by those around them as Color Beasts.
■ Nations and Balance
Color Beasts do not rule nations.
However, the state of nations
certainly affects the life of Color Beasts.
Corruption. Deception. Prosperity built on the backs of other nations.
If such distortions accumulate,
the life force of Color Beasts will quietly be diminished.
■ Disasters
And when it comes to the "disasters" spoken of in this world,
it is not the destruction that comes from the outside.
The collapse of balance, causing Color Beasts to go out of control.
When the world is ravaged and Color Beasts perish,
the next Color Beast will be born.
Even if they refrain from falling into darkness,
if they are abandoned by the people, they will lose their powers as Color Beasts.
Without believers, they cannot exist.
