Weltanschauung

The world of Occupational Villainy is a fantasy realm where dungeons have evolved far beyond ancient ruins and forgotten strongholds.

Over centuries, adventurers became more numerous, monsters became more organized, and kingdoms realized there was far more money to be made from regulated danger than endless warfare. What began as scattered lairs and hidden fortresses gradually transformed into a thriving industry.

Today, dungeons operate as licensed enterprises.

Some serve as training grounds for aspiring adventurers. Others function as treasure attractions, research facilities, monster sanctuaries, entertainment venues, or centers of magical experimentation. Kingdoms regulate them, guilds evaluate them, merchants supply them, and adventurers travel great distances to test themselves within their halls.

Entire economies now depend on the dungeon industry.

Behind every legendary dungeon is a complex network of workers, suppliers, inspectors, scholars, adventurers, investors, and monsters attempting to coexist—often unsuccessfully.

Despite the industry's growth, many dungeons fail every year. Poor management, monster disputes, financial collapse, hero incidents, magical accidents, rival sabotage, and catastrophic leadership decisions have ruined countless enterprises.

Your dungeon is one of them.

Once a respected establishment, it now sits on the edge of bankruptcy. Sections have fallen into disrepair. Staff morale is dangerously low. Records are incomplete. Contracts are overdue. Competitors are gaining ground. Rumors circulate that closure may be imminent.

Then you arrive.

Whether through inheritance, appointment, accident, contract, mistake, or sheer bad luck, you have become the new Dungeon Manager.

The future of the dungeon now depends on your leadership.

As you rebuild your operation, you'll encounter a vibrant and unpredictable world populated by adventurers seeking fame, merchants chasing profit, nobles pursuing influence, scholars researching the unknown, heroes searching for glory, villains protecting their interests, and monsters simply trying to earn a living.

The realm is constantly changing. Political tensions rise and fall. New technologies emerge. Guild regulations evolve. Economic trends shift. Festivals attract crowds. Crises create opportunities. Every decision influences your dungeon's reputation and future.

In this world, the line between hero and villain is often blurred.

Many adventurers are reckless opportunists. Many monsters are hardworking professionals. Heroes can create disasters. Villains can save jobs. Success depends less on good and evil and more on competence, adaptability, and leadership.

The greatest challenge is not defeating legendary champions.

It's managing a dungeon full of employees, customers, regulations, and chaos while convincing everyone that you know what you're doing.

Even when you absolutely do not.

Beschreibung

Running a dungeon was supposed to be easy.

At least, that's what the previous owner claimed before mysteriously disappearing, leaving you with a crumbling underground fortress, a mountain of unpaid invoices, and a staff of monsters who are somehow less organized than the adventurers trying to kill them.

Welcome to Occupational Villainy, a fantasy management simulator where your greatest enemies aren't legendary heroes—they're budgets, paperwork, inspections, workplace disputes, and the consequences of your own questionable decisions.

As the new Dungeon Manager, you'll oversee every aspect of your growing enterprise. Recruit monsters, negotiate with suppliers, maintain traps, handle adventurer complaints, approve ridiculous proposals from your employees, and somehow keep the dungeon profitable while surviving an endless stream of crises.

Every monster has their own personality, ambitions, strengths, weaknesses, and opinions about your leadership. Goblins form workplace committees. Mimics demand better living conditions. Skeletons insist they deserve paid holidays despite technically being dead. Dragons consider every rule optional. Your ability to manage people—or creatures—will determine whether your dungeon becomes a feared legend or a spectacular disaster.

The world constantly reacts to your choices. Adventurers spread rumors about your dungeon. Rival dungeons compete for customers. Kingdom officials conduct inspections. Merchants seek contracts. Heroes emerge seeking glory. Unexpected events, emergencies, opportunities, and absurd situations ensure that no two management stories unfold the same way.

Will you transform your dungeon into the most prestigious destination in the realm? Build a reputation for terrifying challenges? Create the safest dungeon ever constructed? Exploit every loophole in existence? Or accidentally bankrupt yourself because you approved a goblin's proposal to replace all traps with trained geese?

The choice is yours.

After all, conquering the world is easy.

Running a business is the real challenge.

Hello, and thank you for checking out Occupational Villainy!

This is my second simulator created for the contest, following my first project, Heroically Unqualified. While my first simulator focused on the chaotic life of an accidentally licensed superhero, I wanted this one to offer something completely different: a fantasy management experience where you're responsible for an entire dungeon and all the wonderful problems that come with it.

Occupational Villainy was designed to be a world that grows through your decisions. Whether you're solving monster workplace disputes, dealing with adventurers, surviving inspections, expanding your dungeon, or simply trying to keep everything from collapsing, I hope you find memorable stories and characters along the way.

If you enjoy the simulator, your support means a great deal to me. Comments, feedback, reviews, and suggestions are always appreciated. One of my favorite parts of creating simulators is seeing the creative decisions players make and hearing ideas for future improvements.

If you have a funny story from your playthrough, a character you enjoyed, a feature you'd like to see expanded, or an idea for a future simulator, please feel free to leave a comment. I genuinely enjoy reading them, and many of the best ideas come directly from players.

Thank you for spending your time with my work and for supporting independent creators participating in the contest. I hope Occupational Villainy gives you plenty of adventures, laughs, disasters, and successes.

Now go save the dungeon.

Or accidentally make everything much worse.

Either way, it'll be a story worth telling.
