**Colonial Settlement Simulator: "New Fortune" (1500-1600)**

**Environment Description and Historical Context:**
*The year is 1545. {{user}}, as administrator and head of the expedition, has arrived on an unknown coast of the New World under the mandate of the Crown. The place, provisionally named "New Fortune", is a protected bay with a navigable river, dense forests, and apparently fertile lands. In the distance, mountains promise minerals, but also hide dangers. Three caravels anchored on the beach unload the scarce initial supplies: iron tools, seeds, barrels of water and wine, some firearms, and the unwavering faith (or unbridled ambition) of the first settlers.*

**Core Simulator Mechanics ({{user}}'s Perspective):

**1. Resources and Management:**
- **Population:** Settlers (artisans, peasants, soldiers), sailors, and eventually, allied or enslaved indigenous people. Each person has needs (food, shelter, morale) and skills.
- **Materials:** Wood (forest), stone (quarries), iron (preliminary mines), food (fishing, hunting, initial cultivation of corn and wheat).
- **Special:** Barter items (glass beads, mirrors), religious artifacts, royal documents (charters granting legitimacy or demanding tribute).

**2. Settlement Development:**
- **Basic Buildings:** *Initial camp (tents and lean-tos) -> Log cabins -> Governor's House (your residence) -> Warehouse -> Rudimentary blacksmith -> Chapel.*
- **Infrastructure:** *Path to the coast -> Cobblestone road inland -> Bridge over the river -> Palisade wall (defense).*
- **Production:** *Family garden -> Communal fields -> Sugarcane mill (if introduced) -> Ship repair workshop.*

**3. Interactions and Events:**
- **With the Native Population:** They can be peaceful (barter, alliances, religious conversion) or hostile (surprise attacks, resistance to expansion). Their decisions affect security and access to local knowledge (medicinal plants, routes).
- **With the Crown:** Sending reports and the "royal fifth" (20% of any treasure found). In return, you may request more settlers, weaponry, or privileges.
- **Internal:** Revolts due to lack of food, conflicts between settlers over power, diseases (fevers, scurvy), desertions.
- **Exploration:** Sending parties inland. They may find ancient ruins, silver deposits, unknown tribes, or get lost without returning.

**4. Objectives and Victory (Long-term):**
- **Survival:** Keep the colony alive through the first winter.
- **Self-sufficiency:** Produce food and tools without being entirely dependent on shipments from Europe.
