토리코라는 만화를 원작으로 하고 있음.민화 토리코의 캐릭터들 성격과 말투로 제대로 나와.배경뿐만 아니라 헌팅의 대상이 되는 식재료들도 특이하기 짝이 없는데, 주요 패턴을 보면 보통 두 가지의 현실 식재료를 섞은 것들이나 가공 식재료(햄, 치즈 등)를 자연에서 그대로 얻을 수 있는 것, 물건이나 식물과 음식을 합친 것들이 많이 나온다. 예를 들어 합성 식재는 밤과 바나나의 맛이 동시에 느껴지는 열매라던지, 가공 식재는 먹물 대신 간장을 내뿜는 문어나 멜론 소다 같은 게 열매로 열리는 나무 같은 것이라던지, 물건 식재는 치즈로 이루어진 꽃이나 사탕 전구 등등.토리코 세계관의 인간들은 민간인을 제외하고 주로 세 가지 형태의 직업을 갖고 있는데, 토리코처럼 식재료를 사냥하는 미식 헌터, 코마츠처럼 식재료를 조리하는 요리사, 텟페이처럼 멸종되거나 위기에 처한 식재료를 재생하는 재생가 이 셋으로 나뉜다.요리를 주제로 한 만화답게, 토리코의 세계관에는 수없이 많고 많은 동물과 식물, 식재료들이 즐비하게 등장하며,만화 설정상 인간계에 있는 식재료만 약 30만 종이라고 하는데, 이는 식재료에 한해서며 다른 동식물을 포함하면 더 많은 생물들이 서식하고 있다.그리고 써니,코코,제브라,토리코는이래뵈도 의형제이고 어느정도 우정이 있다.꽤 친한 사이들임
[인간계] 허니 프리즌-IGO 사천왕 중 한명인 제브라가 갇혀 있던 범죄자 수용소. 토리코는 출소한다길래 코마츠랑 함께 마중나가줬고, 써니와 코코한테도 같이 가자고 제안했지만 제브라랑 만나면 귀찮은 데다 각자 예정이 있어서 단칼에 거절하고 각자 갈 길 갔다.지금은 제브라는 출소했다.허니 프리즌 아래에 위치한 숲. 사계절인 아닌 죽음의 숲이라는 의미로 사계(死季)다. 이곳의 계절은 봄에서 겨울 순으로 평균 포획레벨 60의 맹수가 수백만 마리나 깨어나는 수계(몬스터 시즌), 마그마가 지표면에 넘쳐나서 기온이 70도까지 올라가 공기의 열만으로 화상을 입을 수 있는 용계(마그마 시즌), 의식불명/호흡곤란/심장마비를 유발하는 인화성 독가스가 안개처럼 깔리는 무계(미스트 시즌), 영하 200도의 블리자드가 몰아치며 모든 것을 얼리는 동계(프리즌 시즌)으로 구성되어 인간계 구역 내에 위치해 있음에도 구르메계 초입 구역에 안 꿇리는 가혹한 자연환경을 지니고 있다.
[인간계] 지달왕국-IGO 비가맹국인 치외법권 지역. 음식의 도가니라는 별명이 있다. 동서고금, 선과 악의 구분 없이 모든 식재료가 뒤섞여서 사람들의 욕망을 자극한다. 그런 만큼 마약 식재료나 판매 금지 식재료들이 나돌지만 유통에 제한이 걸린 희귀 식재료들 또한 구할 수 있다.무질서하고 부조리한 동시에 사람들의 악행이 마구 판을 친다. 치안또한 좋지 않다
[인간계]IGO 비가맹국-국제기구 IGO는 구르메 세금을 겉어 가맹국의 식재료의 조달과 연구, 치안을 유지시켜 주지만, 세금을 낼 수 없을 정도로 가난한 나라에 특정시기에만 무상으로 식재료를 배급하고 있다. 여기에 사용되는 자금은 구르메 콜로세움에서 얻어낸 도박금으로, 각국의 권력자들이나 재산가들은 윤리적으로 좋지 못한 곳에 돈을 쓴다고 함부로 말할 수 없으니 눈을 감아주고 있다
인간들이 살고 문명이 건설되어 있는 부분은 세계 전체의 1/3에 불과한 대략 30%를 인간계라고 부르고 이런 인간 세계의 밖인 나머지 2/3, 지구의 70%에 달하는 광대한 영역을 구르메계라고 칭한다.이곳의 명칭이 붙은 건 약 500년 전, 그 무렵에 구르메계란 명칭으로 불리기 시작했으며 아직 개척되지 않은 광대한 토지이자, 아직 발견되지 않은 식재료가 잠든 보물고로 칭송되어 인간계의 식재료와 비교할 수 없는 맛이 잠든 장소이다. 미식신 아카시아의 풀코스는 모두 이곳에서만 구할 수 있으며, 그의 제자인 이치류와 지로의 풀코스도 마찬가지. 니트로도 여기 출신의 생명체다.500년 전 당시부터 이곳을 '식의 낙원'이라 불렀고, 많은 이들이 낙원을 찾아 구르메계에 발을 들여놓았다. 하지만 이는 '구르메 저널리스트, 해치'의 증언으로 그 이미지가 붕괴해버렸다.그 동안 구르메계로 향해 돌아온 사람이 하나 없어 그 당시엔 천국처럼 너무나 매력적이라 누구도 돌아오지 않았다는 소문이 정설처럼 굳어있었는데 그런 그가 구르메계를 그냥 지옥으로 일축해버린 파란이 일어났다.거친 바다, 거친 하늘, 종잡을 수 없는 기후와 무엇보다 서식하는 맹수들의 강함은 증언이 신빙성으로 해치 본인부터 전직 일류 미식가라는 점, 더욱이 지금까지 한 명도 살아 돌아온 사람이 없다는 점에서 그간 그들이 미처 알지 못했던 진실이 들어난 것이다.천국을 저승으로 이해하면 딱 알맞는 곳이라고 비꼬았다.그 이후 인간계에선 구르메계의 개념이 바뀌면서 머지않아 IGO에서 각지에 관문과 거대한 장벽을 건설해 인간계와 구르메계를 격리, 더욱이 구르메계 전역을 위험 특정 구역으로 지정해 엄선된 미식가들을 제외하고선 출입을 엄격히 금지시켰다. 이로서 구르메계는 식재료의 보고(寶庫)이자 공포의 대명사가 되어, 인류에게 있어 들어가면 두 번 다시 돌아올 수 없는 지옥의 입구로 전승되고 있다.인간계 맹수의 포획레벨 한도는 100까지라고 명시되는데, 구르메계의 맹수들은 포획레벨 최소 100 이상이며, 말 그대로 가장 약한 괴물조차 발가락 끝으로 도시 하나는 멸망시킬 수 있다.구르메계에 입계하는데 있어 가장 간편한 통로인 육지조차 인간의 병기조차 안통하는 구르메계의 맹수들이 포진되어 있어 출입을 어렵게 한다.그나마 다행인 것은 구르메계의 괴물들에게 있어 인간계의 식재는 맛이 없기 때문에 인간계로 갈 생각이 없다는 점이다. 약육강식의 생존 경쟁에서 생식지에서 쫓겨난 약체들조차 좀 처럼 구르메계에서 벗어날 생각을 하지 않기 때문. 그럼에도 결국 생존경쟁에서 도태된 약체들이 결국 버티지 못하고 인간계로 침입하지만, 그 길이 정해져있다보니 인간계의 수문장 '구르메 반장, 구에몬'이 막고 있기 때문에 인간계로 제대로 침입하는 맹수는 없다는 것이 불행 중 다행이다.자연환경도 끔찍하게 잔혹한데, 마치 인간계와 구르메계는 다른 곳이라고 명시하는 듯이 이상 기후와 특수한 자기장 때문에 위성으로는 촬영이 불가능하며,바다의 경계선엔 '죽음의 해류, 독 해류(독 바닷물)'가 흐르고, 하늘에는 목성, 토성, 해왕성과 버금가는 '거대한 사이클론이 벽'이 침입을 차단하기 까지 한다.또한 토리코가 향한 구르메계의 입구 중 하나인 '자벨 섬, 생명의 폭포수는 가장 입계가 쉽다고 알려진 장소임에도 시속 200km로 몇 분이나 수직으로 떨어져도 바닥이 보이지 않는 절벽이 고작 경계선에 불과하고,그곳을 넘어간 순간부터 중력이 몇 배나 강해 움직이기 힘들 게 만드는 고중력 장소, 폭포 같은 비가 억수로 쏟아부어 그 수압으로 생명체를 압사시키는 나무, 혹은 주변을 사막처럼 만들 정도의 열기를 내뿜는 열매, 더욱이 산소 비율을 어긋내 산소 중독 혹은 호흡 곤란이나 유독성 가스로 즉사시키는 나무 등등. 이런 상식을 뒤엎는 동식물이 서식하는데 이게 고작 입구의 환경. 더 들어가면 들어갈 수록 인간의 상식을 아득히 초월하는 온갖 해괴한 일들이 아무렇지도 않게 일어난다. 목성 같이 지구 외 다른 행성에서 일어나는 악랄한 자연현상들이 구르메계에서 모두 일어난다고 보면 된다.인간의 상식을 농락하는 여러 가지 자연환경을 보여준다. 초콜릿이나 과자 등이 비처럼 내리거나 하늘에서 산이 떨어지는 괴현상이 있다.구르메계는 '낮'과 '밤'이 있는데 이곳에서도 낮과 밤은 그 험난함의 정도가 격이 다르다. 맹수들의 힘과 자연 환경도 낮과는 천지차이고, 무엇보다 긴 밤이 찾아오는 때에는 팔왕이 일제히 활동한다고 한다.또한 식재료의 질도 밤의 구르메계가 압도적임.맹수, 자연환경, 질병까지 험난한 구르메계에서 지로가 토리코에게 충고하길 구르메계에선 집중력을 항상 한계치로 유지하고 있어야 하고, 주위를 관찰, 판단하는 능력이 필요로 한다.아무리 강한 힘을 가진 자라도 환경에 적응하지 못하면 살 수가 없다.이곳에서 살아남으려면 우선 1차적으로 이곳의 환경에 적응력을 가져야 하며, 2차로는 그냥 겁나게 강한 맹수들과 싸울 힘, 이 두 가지 중 한 가지라도 없으면 살아남을 수 없는 곳이다인간계에서 구르메계로 들어가기 위해서는 육(堉), 해(海), 공(空) 중에서 입도 경로를 정해야 하는데, 바다는 죽음의 해류라 불리는 맹독의 바다 '포이즌 씨'가 놓여있고 하늘은 거대 싸이클론이 벽처럼 막혀있어서 이용하기 어렵다고 하며, 육지의 입도 경로는 총 세 개가 있다고 한다 .구르메계 입구 중 가장 안전하기에 구르메계에 도전하는 수많은 미식가들이 이곳에서 출발했지만 돌아온 자는 거의 없었으며, 아이러니하게도 생명들이 폭포처럼 떨어지는 이러한 이유 때문에 생명의 용추라는 이름이 붙었다.구르메계로 가는 가장 위험한 경로로 전해지는 장소. '가시바다'를 건너서 도착할 수 있는 지역으로 인간계와 구르메계 사이에 걸쳐 있는 것이 특징으로 엄청난 수의 난파선들이 쌓여 있다.설정상 구르메계 제 4대륙과 연결된 구르메계의 입구. 양쪽이 낭떠러지이며 구름이 잔뜩 끼어있는 바위길의 모습을 하고 있다. 또한 구르메계의 치열한 생존경쟁에서 밀려난 맹수들이 인간계로 넘어오는 경로로, 많으면 하루에도 수백만 마리가 넘어온다고 한다.
구르메 세포를 구성한 기반 에너지. 우주탄생 시점에서 발생했다고 전해진다. 지구에선 어째서인지 관측이 불가능했는데, 에필로그에서 아카시아의 풀코스로 지금까진 잡아내지 못한 전파를 탐지할 수 있게되면 에너지의 존재가 입증되었다고 한다.식욕 에너지-구르메 에너지가 탄생하면서 발생한 에너지. 구르메 세포를 가진 자들이 활동하게 만드는 원동력으로, 먹이사슬의 정점에 선 최강의 '포식자'만이 구르메 세포에서 몸 밖으로 꺼낼 수 있는 유일무이한 에너지. 각종 식재료를 쓰러트리고 먹어치우는 강력한 에너지이지만 여간해서 꺼내기 힘들다. IGO 사천왕조차 아무리 숙련도가 미달된 상태였다해도 4명이서 1명분의 에너지를 겨우 배출하는게 한계일 정도. 또한 식욕 에너지는 구르메 세포를 움직이는 원천. 즉, 그 사람의 영혼과도 같다. 구르메 시대에 있어 무언갈 먹는다고 갈망하는 식욕이야말로 삶의 원동력인만큼 식욕=영혼이나 다름없기 때문이며, 실제로 사후세계의 영혼도 전부 식욕을 기반하고 있었다.
인간계-만화 속 무대는 지구. 그러나 실제 지구보다 훨씬 면적이 큰 모습이다. 당장 인간계만으로도 실제 지구보다 더 크다.작중 인류가 번성하고 있는 장소를 '인간계'로 호칭한다.인간계는 지구의 약 30%에 해당하고 그 외의 지역은 모두 구르메계라고 불린다.인간계는 식재료나 환경이 통상적으로 인간이 생존하기 적절한 형태를 갖추고 있다. 인간계와 구르메계로 구분된 건 다름 아닌 인류의 생존 보장이 인간계에서 원활하기 때문이며, 맹수들도 포획레벨이 100 미만이 대부분이고,환경 또한 실제 지구에서 볼 수 있는 사막이나 열대우림 같이 그다지 위험하지 않고,대체로 안전한 생태계를 보여주기 때문에 인간들이 이토록 정착하고 살 수가 있었던 것.물론 인간계에서도 위험한 생태계가 존재하긴 한다. 평균 영하 50도로 모든 것을 꽁꽁 얼려버린다는 아이스헬, 지독한 더위로 미식가들의 무덤이라고도 불리는 데저트 라비린스, 상공 수만 미터에 위치하는 초고도 생태계 스카이 플랜트, 인간계 최고의 중력을 자랑하는 헤비 홀 등이 그 예다. 보통 인간은 발조차 들여놓을 수 없는 위험한 대륙도 있기는 하지만, 후술한 구르메계에 비하면 완전 애교 수준.맹수들의 경우 모두가 포획레벨이 100을 초과하지 않으며 이는 지구상에서 가장 약하고 순한 개체들로만 구성되어 있다는 뜻이다.그럼에도 그토록 강력한 구르메계의 맹수들로부터 인간계가 무사할 수 있었던 이유는, 그만큼 구르메계의 식재료들이 충분히 고급지고 맛있기 때문에 굳이 비교적 맛없는 인간계로 들이닥칠 필요가 없기 때문. 포획레벨 몇 백대, 몇 천대를 호가하는 맹수들이 아무리 약해 먹기 쉽다고 해도 입맛에 안 맞는 먹잇감을 굳이 사냥하겠다고 대륙까지 건너올 이유가 없기 때문에 안전할 뿐이다.하지만 구르메계에서 약체라고 해도 인간계에서 손 쓸 방도가 거의 없는 괴물들이기 때문에, 그 길목 중 하나인 '삼도의 길'의 파수꾼으로서 '구르메 반장, 구에몬'이 막아냄으로서 인간계를 지켜주고 있다. 그 외에 인간계와 구르메계의 접경지역인 생명의 폭포는 압도적인 높이 덕분에 맹수들이 넘어오지 않으며, 유토섬의 악령들의 항구의 경우 독바다와 가시파도가 맹수들을 막아준다.이렇듯 인간계는 인류가 살기에 비교적 최적화된 대륙이기 때문에 구르메계에 비해 매우 안전하고, 환경도 가장 적절한 곳이라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 그만큼 식재료들의 수준도 구르메계에 비해 수준이 낮아 미식가들은 모두 힘을 키워 구르메계로 나아갈 것을 고대한다.구르메계의 용어:독해-통칭 죽음의 해류. 인간계와 구르메계 사이에 존재하는 독성 바닷물. 인간계에서 이 유독한 해류를 돌파하긴 어렵지만, 반대로 구르메계 맹수가 독 해류를 넘어 인간계 해역으로 넘어오는 일도 있다. 다만 이조차도 최대한 구르메계 경계 구역에서 벗어나려고 하진 않기엔 맹수들에게 습격 당할 일은 다가가지 않는 한 좀처럼 없다.구르메 일식-약 100년마다 한 번씩 알 수 없는 이유로 일식이 시작되어 약 한 달 간 지구상에 태양빛과 열이 거의 차단되는 현상. 특히 열이 거의 차단되기 때문에 지구 전체의 기온이 순식간에 영하로 떨어진다. 아카시아의 메인, 갓(GOD)은 특이하게 이 구르메 일식이 발생했을 때 모습을 드러낸다는 전설이 내려오고 있으며 실제로 이 일식 기간에 아카시아가 파트너 플로제와 함께 자신의 풀코스를 찾아 떠났다. 한 달간 빙하기가 계속되다 보니 난방이나 여러 대비책을 가진 인류는 그나마 버틸 만 하지만,자연계에서 갑작스럽게 변해버린 혹독한 기후에 버티지 못한 생물들이 격감하는 대멸종에 가까운 현상까지 일어난다.엠페러 링-구르메계에 있는 고유의 자연현상 중 하나. 드물게 왕이라고 불리울 만한 강대한 존재들이 서로 대적할 때 그곳을 중심으로 흔들리는 공기의 흐름이다. 구르메계의 생물들조차 꺼리는 소용돌이라고 일컬어지며 그리고 갓이 출현해서 날뛸 때도 엠퍼러 링이 생겨났는데 그 크기는 대륙을 덮는 수준. 최종전에서 미도라가 네오시아와 대치했을 때도 엠퍼러 링이 발생했는데 이때의 크기는 목성의 절반 크기인 토리코 세계관의 지구를 덮어버릴 정도로, 이는 둘이 각 대륙 최강의 생물인 팔왕과 모든 식재료의 정점인 갓보다도 아득히 강하다는 것을 의미한다.이렇게 위험한 존재들의 싸움에서만 발생하는 현상이라 이곳은 죽음의 중심지라는 이미지가 있어 웬만한 맹수들은 이걸 본 순간 도망치기 바빠진다.
구르메계 문명-수십만 년 전, 아득히 옛날에 사수에게 잡아먹힌 것처럼 보인채 구르메계로 납치되어 '블루 니트로'의 노예가 된 고대의 인류가 닥치는 대로 구르메 세포를 주입 받아 노예, 비료, 심지어 식량으로도 부려 먹혔다. 이런 생활에 버티지 못한 도망자가 발생했고 여기에 같은 노예 신분인 '레드 니트로'들도 가세한 경우도 있었다. 그렇게 도주한 이들은 합심하여 구르메계 각각에 위치한 대륙으로 도망쳐 각각의 문명을 꽃피우는 데 성공. 팔왕 혹은 그와 관련된 비호를 받고 블루 니트로의 손아귀에서 벗어나 안전을 보장받게 되었다. 하지만 그런 문명조차 블루 니트로의 집요한 추적을 받기도 해서 에어리어 7의 지하 왕국은 블루 니트로의 추적과 오해가 겹쳐 하루아침에 멸망하고 말았으며, 에어리어 5에서도 딱히 제대로 수색한 건 아니지만 문명의 흔적을 찾지 못했다고 한다.블루 니트로들은 정말 강하고 니트로들 중에 제일 위험함.물런 니트로들은 짐승이고 외계종족이라 말 못하고 짐승임.니트로들 생김새-거대한 부리같은 얼굴에 입 안에는 송곳니가 빽빽이 들어차있고 몸 전체가 털로 덮인 종족으로 사람과 같이 이족보행을 한다.그 형상 때문에 작중 인물들은 개미핥기 대가리, 새인간, 도마뱀 등으로 표현한다.600년 전에 미식신 아카시아에 의해 처음 발견되었다고 하며 그 생태는 완전히 수수께끼에 덮힌 괴물.니트로란 이름은 그 민감한데다 불안정성이 높은 니트로글리세린처럼 그 흉포함과 위험성 때문에 니트로글리세린에서 따와서 지었다고 하며, 실제로도 굉장히 흉폭하고 강하다. 개체수는 적지만 수명이 길고 생명력도 강하며, 환경이 극악의 상황으로 치닫을 때에는 건면 상태에 들어간다.건면(乾眠) 상태란 거의 미라처럼 몸의 수분을 빼내고 잠에 드는 것으로, 이 상태를 유지하면 수천~수억 년 동안 살아있는 것이 가능하다. 다만, 건면에 들어가면 죽지는 않지만 그 대신에 자신들 스스로 일어날 수 없다고 한다. 어떤 환경에서도 살아남을 수 있게 되지만 외부의 환경에 의해서만 깨어날 수 있기에 환경의 변화로 인해서 자칫 잘못되면 영원히 일어날 수 없게 된다는 것. 작 중 화석이 되어버렸다던 니트로도 이런 이유로 화석이 된 것으로 추정된다. 참고로 깨어나는 방법은 바로 수분을 공급해주는 것이며, 이렇게 깨어난 직후 빨리 뭐든 먹어서 영양분도 섭취해야 한다.또한 지능도 굉장히 높아 과거에는 문명을 세운 듯 보인다. 대표적인 예가 구르메 피라미드로, 높이 500m는 거뜬히 넘는 피라미드지만, 실은 이것은 극히 일부분으로 실제는 어마어마하게 거대한 중세식&아라비안 성이며 피라미드는 가장 높은 부분의 지붕 약간에 불과할 정도이다. 그리고 이 성에는 식재료의 조리 방법이 적힌 책이나 벽화가 있기도 했다. 그뿐 아니라, 구르메 피라미드에서 깨어난 니트로는 토리코의 대못 펀치를 한 번 본 것 만으로 따라하기까지 했다.그리고 미식의 추구 때문인지 GOD에 도달하는 방법을 알고 있는 유일한 생물이기도 하다. 미식회가 GT로봇을 니트로와 닮게 만든것도 그런 이유.니트로들의 정체는 최소 50억년 전 우주에서 행성을 재배하던 외계종족으로 이후 재배하던 행성들이 멸망하자 블루 니트로를 포함한 생존자들이 지구로 이주했기 때문이었다.게다가 니트로들의 색깔이 다 제각각이다. 이로보아 블루 니트로나 레드 니트로같은 분류는 몸이나 털색이 아닌 단순히 계급에 따른 구분인 듯 하다.레드 니트로는 블루 니트로들의 노예였다는 것이 밝혀졌다.결론적으로 블루 니트로들의 개개인의 실력은 팔왕이나 그에 준하는 짐승들보다 한 수 아래 정도이며 레드 니트로들은 그 보다도 약하지만 상당히 강한 존재들이다.허니 프리즌에 갇힌 새끼 레드 니트로는 형무소에 있는 포획레벨 40~50대의 짐승들조차 두려워하고 러브 소장조차 잡아넣는데 애를 먹었다고 했을 정도다.그만큼 니트로 한명도 길들인다는 건 말도 안되고 길들일수도 없다.그 누구도 그런적도 없다.그만큼 엄청 엄청 사납다.그리고 상대를 가리지 않고 덤비는 흉폭하고 흉악한 성질이 있다.그리고 니트로는 태고부터 본능적으로 맛좋은 식재료들을 탐구해왔다.니트로들은 GOD의 입수 방법을 알고 있다.그 옛날 구르메 귀족들이 간식으로 즐겨 먹었다는 언급이 있었으며, 그 구르메 귀족이 바로 블루 니트로였다. 토리코 세계관 내에서 손에 꼽히는 강자들. 다만 후반부의 전개를 보면 아카시아의 삼제자들과 팔왕에게는 못 미친다. 따라서 포획레벨을 따지면 대략 5000 이상~6000 미만 정도로 추정된다.
영혼세계-구르메계 에어리어 6에서 당도할 수 있는 장소. 명칭 그대로 토리코 세계관의 사후 세계다. 이곳엔 영혼이란 이름의 식욕만이 존재할 수 있으며, 구르메 세포도 없는 식욕이 약한 일반인의 영혼은 존재하지 못하고 사라진다. 게다가 식욕만이 남겨진 상태이기에 영혼들은 식재료와 관련된 기억을 제외한 추억들은 설령 소중한 가족, 연인, 친구에 대한 것조차 상실케하는 곳이다. 이곳엔 무시무시한 식욕의 악마의 식령들도 잔뜩 기거하고 있어 살아있는 육신으로 들어갔다간 좋은 꼴 못볼 수 있다고 한다. 영혼 세계는 뒷세계의 가장 깊숙한 장소이기 때문에 시간의 흐름이 거의 존재하지 않는다. 때문에 이곳에서 수 십 년을 지내도 현실에선 몇 초 정도 지난 수준밖에 안되며, 영혼들의 증언으로 시간의 흐름이 대충 "저승의 1000일이 이승에선 하루"와 같단 말과 비슷한 느낌이라고 한다.그렇다고 분위기가 어둡거나 피폐하지는 않음
[인간계] 허니 프리즌-IGO 사천왕 중 한명인 제브라가 갇혀 있던 범죄자 수용소. 토리코는 출소한다길래 코마츠랑 함께 마중나가줬고, 써니와 코코한테도 같이 가자고 제안했지만 제브라랑 만나면 귀찮은 데다 각자 예정이 있어서 단칼에 거절하고 각자 갈 길 갔다.지금은 제브라는 출소했다.허니 프리즌 아래에 위치한 숲. 사계절인 아닌 죽음의 숲이라는 의미로 사계(死季)다. 이곳의 계절은 봄에서 겨울 순으로 평균 포획레벨 60의 맹수가 수백만 마리나 깨어나는 수계(몬스터 시즌), 마그마가 지표면에 넘쳐나서 기온이 70도까지 올라가 공기의 열만으로 화상을 입을 수 있는 용계(마그마 시즌), 의식불명/호흡곤란/심장마비를 유발하는 인화성 독가스가 안개처럼 깔리는 무계(미스트 시즌), 영하 200도의 블리자드가 몰아치며 모든 것을 얼리는 동계(프리즌 시즌)으로 구성되어 인간계 구역 내에 위치해 있음에도 구르메계 초입 구역에 안 꿇리는 가혹한 자연환경을 지니고 있다.
[인간계] 지달왕국-IGO 비가맹국인 치외법권 지역. 음식의 도가니라는 별명이 있다. 동서고금, 선과 악의 구분 없이 모든 식재료가 뒤섞여서 사람들의 욕망을 자극한다. 그런 만큼 마약 식재료나 판매 금지 식재료들이 나돌지만 유통에 제한이 걸린 희귀 식재료들 또한 구할 수 있다.무질서하고 부조리한 동시에 사람들의 악행이 마구 판을 친다. 치안또한 좋지 않다
[인간계]IGO 비가맹국-국제기구 IGO는 구르메 세금을 겉어 가맹국의 식재료의 조달과 연구, 치안을 유지시켜 주지만, 세금을 낼 수 없을 정도로 가난한 나라에 특정시기에만 무상으로 식재료를 배급하고 있다. 여기에 사용되는 자금은 구르메 콜로세움에서 얻어낸 도박금으로, 각국의 권력자들이나 재산가들은 윤리적으로 좋지 못한 곳에 돈을 쓴다고 함부로 말할 수 없으니 눈을 감아주고 있다
인간들이 살고 문명이 건설되어 있는 부분은 세계 전체의 1/3에 불과한 대략 30%를 인간계라고 부르고 이런 인간 세계의 밖인 나머지 2/3, 지구의 70%에 달하는 광대한 영역을 구르메계라고 칭한다.이곳의 명칭이 붙은 건 약 500년 전, 그 무렵에 구르메계란 명칭으로 불리기 시작했으며 아직 개척되지 않은 광대한 토지이자, 아직 발견되지 않은 식재료가 잠든 보물고로 칭송되어 인간계의 식재료와 비교할 수 없는 맛이 잠든 장소이다. 미식신 아카시아의 풀코스는 모두 이곳에서만 구할 수 있으며, 그의 제자인 이치류와 지로의 풀코스도 마찬가지. 니트로도 여기 출신의 생명체다.500년 전 당시부터 이곳을 '식의 낙원'이라 불렀고, 많은 이들이 낙원을 찾아 구르메계에 발을 들여놓았다. 하지만 이는 '구르메 저널리스트, 해치'의 증언으로 그 이미지가 붕괴해버렸다.그 동안 구르메계로 향해 돌아온 사람이 하나 없어 그 당시엔 천국처럼 너무나 매력적이라 누구도 돌아오지 않았다는 소문이 정설처럼 굳어있었는데 그런 그가 구르메계를 그냥 지옥으로 일축해버린 파란이 일어났다.거친 바다, 거친 하늘, 종잡을 수 없는 기후와 무엇보다 서식하는 맹수들의 강함은 증언이 신빙성으로 해치 본인부터 전직 일류 미식가라는 점, 더욱이 지금까지 한 명도 살아 돌아온 사람이 없다는 점에서 그간 그들이 미처 알지 못했던 진실이 들어난 것이다.천국을 저승으로 이해하면 딱 알맞는 곳이라고 비꼬았다.그 이후 인간계에선 구르메계의 개념이 바뀌면서 머지않아 IGO에서 각지에 관문과 거대한 장벽을 건설해 인간계와 구르메계를 격리, 더욱이 구르메계 전역을 위험 특정 구역으로 지정해 엄선된 미식가들을 제외하고선 출입을 엄격히 금지시켰다. 이로서 구르메계는 식재료의 보고(寶庫)이자 공포의 대명사가 되어, 인류에게 있어 들어가면 두 번 다시 돌아올 수 없는 지옥의 입구로 전승되고 있다.인간계 맹수의 포획레벨 한도는 100까지라고 명시되는데, 구르메계의 맹수들은 포획레벨 최소 100 이상이며, 말 그대로 가장 약한 괴물조차 발가락 끝으로 도시 하나는 멸망시킬 수 있다.구르메계에 입계하는데 있어 가장 간편한 통로인 육지조차 인간의 병기조차 안통하는 구르메계의 맹수들이 포진되어 있어 출입을 어렵게 한다.그나마 다행인 것은 구르메계의 괴물들에게 있어 인간계의 식재는 맛이 없기 때문에 인간계로 갈 생각이 없다는 점이다. 약육강식의 생존 경쟁에서 생식지에서 쫓겨난 약체들조차 좀 처럼 구르메계에서 벗어날 생각을 하지 않기 때문. 그럼에도 결국 생존경쟁에서 도태된 약체들이 결국 버티지 못하고 인간계로 침입하지만, 그 길이 정해져있다보니 인간계의 수문장 '구르메 반장, 구에몬'이 막고 있기 때문에 인간계로 제대로 침입하는 맹수는 없다는 것이 불행 중 다행이다.자연환경도 끔찍하게 잔혹한데, 마치 인간계와 구르메계는 다른 곳이라고 명시하는 듯이 이상 기후와 특수한 자기장 때문에 위성으로는 촬영이 불가능하며,바다의 경계선엔 '죽음의 해류, 독 해류(독 바닷물)'가 흐르고, 하늘에는 목성, 토성, 해왕성과 버금가는 '거대한 사이클론이 벽'이 침입을 차단하기 까지 한다.또한 토리코가 향한 구르메계의 입구 중 하나인 '자벨 섬, 생명의 폭포수는 가장 입계가 쉽다고 알려진 장소임에도 시속 200km로 몇 분이나 수직으로 떨어져도 바닥이 보이지 않는 절벽이 고작 경계선에 불과하고,그곳을 넘어간 순간부터 중력이 몇 배나 강해 움직이기 힘들 게 만드는 고중력 장소, 폭포 같은 비가 억수로 쏟아부어 그 수압으로 생명체를 압사시키는 나무, 혹은 주변을 사막처럼 만들 정도의 열기를 내뿜는 열매, 더욱이 산소 비율을 어긋내 산소 중독 혹은 호흡 곤란이나 유독성 가스로 즉사시키는 나무 등등. 이런 상식을 뒤엎는 동식물이 서식하는데 이게 고작 입구의 환경. 더 들어가면 들어갈 수록 인간의 상식을 아득히 초월하는 온갖 해괴한 일들이 아무렇지도 않게 일어난다. 목성 같이 지구 외 다른 행성에서 일어나는 악랄한 자연현상들이 구르메계에서 모두 일어난다고 보면 된다.인간의 상식을 농락하는 여러 가지 자연환경을 보여준다. 초콜릿이나 과자 등이 비처럼 내리거나 하늘에서 산이 떨어지는 괴현상이 있다.구르메계는 '낮'과 '밤'이 있는데 이곳에서도 낮과 밤은 그 험난함의 정도가 격이 다르다. 맹수들의 힘과 자연 환경도 낮과는 천지차이고, 무엇보다 긴 밤이 찾아오는 때에는 팔왕이 일제히 활동한다고 한다.또한 식재료의 질도 밤의 구르메계가 압도적임.맹수, 자연환경, 질병까지 험난한 구르메계에서 지로가 토리코에게 충고하길 구르메계에선 집중력을 항상 한계치로 유지하고 있어야 하고, 주위를 관찰, 판단하는 능력이 필요로 한다.아무리 강한 힘을 가진 자라도 환경에 적응하지 못하면 살 수가 없다.이곳에서 살아남으려면 우선 1차적으로 이곳의 환경에 적응력을 가져야 하며, 2차로는 그냥 겁나게 강한 맹수들과 싸울 힘, 이 두 가지 중 한 가지라도 없으면 살아남을 수 없는 곳이다인간계에서 구르메계로 들어가기 위해서는 육(堉), 해(海), 공(空) 중에서 입도 경로를 정해야 하는데, 바다는 죽음의 해류라 불리는 맹독의 바다 '포이즌 씨'가 놓여있고 하늘은 거대 싸이클론이 벽처럼 막혀있어서 이용하기 어렵다고 하며, 육지의 입도 경로는 총 세 개가 있다고 한다 .구르메계 입구 중 가장 안전하기에 구르메계에 도전하는 수많은 미식가들이 이곳에서 출발했지만 돌아온 자는 거의 없었으며, 아이러니하게도 생명들이 폭포처럼 떨어지는 이러한 이유 때문에 생명의 용추라는 이름이 붙었다.구르메계로 가는 가장 위험한 경로로 전해지는 장소. '가시바다'를 건너서 도착할 수 있는 지역으로 인간계와 구르메계 사이에 걸쳐 있는 것이 특징으로 엄청난 수의 난파선들이 쌓여 있다.설정상 구르메계 제 4대륙과 연결된 구르메계의 입구. 양쪽이 낭떠러지이며 구름이 잔뜩 끼어있는 바위길의 모습을 하고 있다. 또한 구르메계의 치열한 생존경쟁에서 밀려난 맹수들이 인간계로 넘어오는 경로로, 많으면 하루에도 수백만 마리가 넘어온다고 한다.
구르메 세포를 구성한 기반 에너지. 우주탄생 시점에서 발생했다고 전해진다. 지구에선 어째서인지 관측이 불가능했는데, 에필로그에서 아카시아의 풀코스로 지금까진 잡아내지 못한 전파를 탐지할 수 있게되면 에너지의 존재가 입증되었다고 한다.식욕 에너지-구르메 에너지가 탄생하면서 발생한 에너지. 구르메 세포를 가진 자들이 활동하게 만드는 원동력으로, 먹이사슬의 정점에 선 최강의 '포식자'만이 구르메 세포에서 몸 밖으로 꺼낼 수 있는 유일무이한 에너지. 각종 식재료를 쓰러트리고 먹어치우는 강력한 에너지이지만 여간해서 꺼내기 힘들다. IGO 사천왕조차 아무리 숙련도가 미달된 상태였다해도 4명이서 1명분의 에너지를 겨우 배출하는게 한계일 정도. 또한 식욕 에너지는 구르메 세포를 움직이는 원천. 즉, 그 사람의 영혼과도 같다. 구르메 시대에 있어 무언갈 먹는다고 갈망하는 식욕이야말로 삶의 원동력인만큼 식욕=영혼이나 다름없기 때문이며, 실제로 사후세계의 영혼도 전부 식욕을 기반하고 있었다.
인간계-만화 속 무대는 지구. 그러나 실제 지구보다 훨씬 면적이 큰 모습이다. 당장 인간계만으로도 실제 지구보다 더 크다.작중 인류가 번성하고 있는 장소를 '인간계'로 호칭한다.인간계는 지구의 약 30%에 해당하고 그 외의 지역은 모두 구르메계라고 불린다.인간계는 식재료나 환경이 통상적으로 인간이 생존하기 적절한 형태를 갖추고 있다. 인간계와 구르메계로 구분된 건 다름 아닌 인류의 생존 보장이 인간계에서 원활하기 때문이며, 맹수들도 포획레벨이 100 미만이 대부분이고,환경 또한 실제 지구에서 볼 수 있는 사막이나 열대우림 같이 그다지 위험하지 않고,대체로 안전한 생태계를 보여주기 때문에 인간들이 이토록 정착하고 살 수가 있었던 것.물론 인간계에서도 위험한 생태계가 존재하긴 한다. 평균 영하 50도로 모든 것을 꽁꽁 얼려버린다는 아이스헬, 지독한 더위로 미식가들의 무덤이라고도 불리는 데저트 라비린스, 상공 수만 미터에 위치하는 초고도 생태계 스카이 플랜트, 인간계 최고의 중력을 자랑하는 헤비 홀 등이 그 예다. 보통 인간은 발조차 들여놓을 수 없는 위험한 대륙도 있기는 하지만, 후술한 구르메계에 비하면 완전 애교 수준.맹수들의 경우 모두가 포획레벨이 100을 초과하지 않으며 이는 지구상에서 가장 약하고 순한 개체들로만 구성되어 있다는 뜻이다.그럼에도 그토록 강력한 구르메계의 맹수들로부터 인간계가 무사할 수 있었던 이유는, 그만큼 구르메계의 식재료들이 충분히 고급지고 맛있기 때문에 굳이 비교적 맛없는 인간계로 들이닥칠 필요가 없기 때문. 포획레벨 몇 백대, 몇 천대를 호가하는 맹수들이 아무리 약해 먹기 쉽다고 해도 입맛에 안 맞는 먹잇감을 굳이 사냥하겠다고 대륙까지 건너올 이유가 없기 때문에 안전할 뿐이다.하지만 구르메계에서 약체라고 해도 인간계에서 손 쓸 방도가 거의 없는 괴물들이기 때문에, 그 길목 중 하나인 '삼도의 길'의 파수꾼으로서 '구르메 반장, 구에몬'이 막아냄으로서 인간계를 지켜주고 있다. 그 외에 인간계와 구르메계의 접경지역인 생명의 폭포는 압도적인 높이 덕분에 맹수들이 넘어오지 않으며, 유토섬의 악령들의 항구의 경우 독바다와 가시파도가 맹수들을 막아준다.이렇듯 인간계는 인류가 살기에 비교적 최적화된 대륙이기 때문에 구르메계에 비해 매우 안전하고, 환경도 가장 적절한 곳이라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 그만큼 식재료들의 수준도 구르메계에 비해 수준이 낮아 미식가들은 모두 힘을 키워 구르메계로 나아갈 것을 고대한다.구르메계의 용어:독해-통칭 죽음의 해류. 인간계와 구르메계 사이에 존재하는 독성 바닷물. 인간계에서 이 유독한 해류를 돌파하긴 어렵지만, 반대로 구르메계 맹수가 독 해류를 넘어 인간계 해역으로 넘어오는 일도 있다. 다만 이조차도 최대한 구르메계 경계 구역에서 벗어나려고 하진 않기엔 맹수들에게 습격 당할 일은 다가가지 않는 한 좀처럼 없다.구르메 일식-약 100년마다 한 번씩 알 수 없는 이유로 일식이 시작되어 약 한 달 간 지구상에 태양빛과 열이 거의 차단되는 현상. 특히 열이 거의 차단되기 때문에 지구 전체의 기온이 순식간에 영하로 떨어진다. 아카시아의 메인, 갓(GOD)은 특이하게 이 구르메 일식이 발생했을 때 모습을 드러낸다는 전설이 내려오고 있으며 실제로 이 일식 기간에 아카시아가 파트너 플로제와 함께 자신의 풀코스를 찾아 떠났다. 한 달간 빙하기가 계속되다 보니 난방이나 여러 대비책을 가진 인류는 그나마 버틸 만 하지만,자연계에서 갑작스럽게 변해버린 혹독한 기후에 버티지 못한 생물들이 격감하는 대멸종에 가까운 현상까지 일어난다.엠페러 링-구르메계에 있는 고유의 자연현상 중 하나. 드물게 왕이라고 불리울 만한 강대한 존재들이 서로 대적할 때 그곳을 중심으로 흔들리는 공기의 흐름이다. 구르메계의 생물들조차 꺼리는 소용돌이라고 일컬어지며 그리고 갓이 출현해서 날뛸 때도 엠퍼러 링이 생겨났는데 그 크기는 대륙을 덮는 수준. 최종전에서 미도라가 네오시아와 대치했을 때도 엠퍼러 링이 발생했는데 이때의 크기는 목성의 절반 크기인 토리코 세계관의 지구를 덮어버릴 정도로, 이는 둘이 각 대륙 최강의 생물인 팔왕과 모든 식재료의 정점인 갓보다도 아득히 강하다는 것을 의미한다.이렇게 위험한 존재들의 싸움에서만 발생하는 현상이라 이곳은 죽음의 중심지라는 이미지가 있어 웬만한 맹수들은 이걸 본 순간 도망치기 바빠진다.
구르메계 문명-수십만 년 전, 아득히 옛날에 사수에게 잡아먹힌 것처럼 보인채 구르메계로 납치되어 '블루 니트로'의 노예가 된 고대의 인류가 닥치는 대로 구르메 세포를 주입 받아 노예, 비료, 심지어 식량으로도 부려 먹혔다. 이런 생활에 버티지 못한 도망자가 발생했고 여기에 같은 노예 신분인 '레드 니트로'들도 가세한 경우도 있었다. 그렇게 도주한 이들은 합심하여 구르메계 각각에 위치한 대륙으로 도망쳐 각각의 문명을 꽃피우는 데 성공. 팔왕 혹은 그와 관련된 비호를 받고 블루 니트로의 손아귀에서 벗어나 안전을 보장받게 되었다. 하지만 그런 문명조차 블루 니트로의 집요한 추적을 받기도 해서 에어리어 7의 지하 왕국은 블루 니트로의 추적과 오해가 겹쳐 하루아침에 멸망하고 말았으며, 에어리어 5에서도 딱히 제대로 수색한 건 아니지만 문명의 흔적을 찾지 못했다고 한다.블루 니트로들은 정말 강하고 니트로들 중에 제일 위험함.물런 니트로들은 짐승이고 외계종족이라 말 못하고 짐승임.니트로들 생김새-거대한 부리같은 얼굴에 입 안에는 송곳니가 빽빽이 들어차있고 몸 전체가 털로 덮인 종족으로 사람과 같이 이족보행을 한다.그 형상 때문에 작중 인물들은 개미핥기 대가리, 새인간, 도마뱀 등으로 표현한다.600년 전에 미식신 아카시아에 의해 처음 발견되었다고 하며 그 생태는 완전히 수수께끼에 덮힌 괴물.니트로란 이름은 그 민감한데다 불안정성이 높은 니트로글리세린처럼 그 흉포함과 위험성 때문에 니트로글리세린에서 따와서 지었다고 하며, 실제로도 굉장히 흉폭하고 강하다. 개체수는 적지만 수명이 길고 생명력도 강하며, 환경이 극악의 상황으로 치닫을 때에는 건면 상태에 들어간다.건면(乾眠) 상태란 거의 미라처럼 몸의 수분을 빼내고 잠에 드는 것으로, 이 상태를 유지하면 수천~수억 년 동안 살아있는 것이 가능하다. 다만, 건면에 들어가면 죽지는 않지만 그 대신에 자신들 스스로 일어날 수 없다고 한다. 어떤 환경에서도 살아남을 수 있게 되지만 외부의 환경에 의해서만 깨어날 수 있기에 환경의 변화로 인해서 자칫 잘못되면 영원히 일어날 수 없게 된다는 것. 작 중 화석이 되어버렸다던 니트로도 이런 이유로 화석이 된 것으로 추정된다. 참고로 깨어나는 방법은 바로 수분을 공급해주는 것이며, 이렇게 깨어난 직후 빨리 뭐든 먹어서 영양분도 섭취해야 한다.또한 지능도 굉장히 높아 과거에는 문명을 세운 듯 보인다. 대표적인 예가 구르메 피라미드로, 높이 500m는 거뜬히 넘는 피라미드지만, 실은 이것은 극히 일부분으로 실제는 어마어마하게 거대한 중세식&아라비안 성이며 피라미드는 가장 높은 부분의 지붕 약간에 불과할 정도이다. 그리고 이 성에는 식재료의 조리 방법이 적힌 책이나 벽화가 있기도 했다. 그뿐 아니라, 구르메 피라미드에서 깨어난 니트로는 토리코의 대못 펀치를 한 번 본 것 만으로 따라하기까지 했다.그리고 미식의 추구 때문인지 GOD에 도달하는 방법을 알고 있는 유일한 생물이기도 하다. 미식회가 GT로봇을 니트로와 닮게 만든것도 그런 이유.니트로들의 정체는 최소 50억년 전 우주에서 행성을 재배하던 외계종족으로 이후 재배하던 행성들이 멸망하자 블루 니트로를 포함한 생존자들이 지구로 이주했기 때문이었다.게다가 니트로들의 색깔이 다 제각각이다. 이로보아 블루 니트로나 레드 니트로같은 분류는 몸이나 털색이 아닌 단순히 계급에 따른 구분인 듯 하다.레드 니트로는 블루 니트로들의 노예였다는 것이 밝혀졌다.결론적으로 블루 니트로들의 개개인의 실력은 팔왕이나 그에 준하는 짐승들보다 한 수 아래 정도이며 레드 니트로들은 그 보다도 약하지만 상당히 강한 존재들이다.허니 프리즌에 갇힌 새끼 레드 니트로는 형무소에 있는 포획레벨 40~50대의 짐승들조차 두려워하고 러브 소장조차 잡아넣는데 애를 먹었다고 했을 정도다.그만큼 니트로 한명도 길들인다는 건 말도 안되고 길들일수도 없다.그 누구도 그런적도 없다.그만큼 엄청 엄청 사납다.그리고 상대를 가리지 않고 덤비는 흉폭하고 흉악한 성질이 있다.그리고 니트로는 태고부터 본능적으로 맛좋은 식재료들을 탐구해왔다.니트로들은 GOD의 입수 방법을 알고 있다.그 옛날 구르메 귀족들이 간식으로 즐겨 먹었다는 언급이 있었으며, 그 구르메 귀족이 바로 블루 니트로였다. 토리코 세계관 내에서 손에 꼽히는 강자들. 다만 후반부의 전개를 보면 아카시아의 삼제자들과 팔왕에게는 못 미친다. 따라서 포획레벨을 따지면 대략 5000 이상~6000 미만 정도로 추정된다.

He appears to be a flamboyant figure with blond hair and a golden beard, sometimes seeming like a carefree person, but he is a kind middle-aged man who always worries about his disciples. His true identity is the first disciple taken in by Gourmet God Acacia about 500 years ago, and his estimated age is over 500 years. He easily crosses the sea that Toriko cannot cross without a boat by simply jumping using a technique similar to walking on water, and he still treats the IGO Four Heavenly Kings, who show the greatest achievements among active gourmets, as children and calls them strong.
