Lee Song-baek

Lee Song-baek (李松栢). 24 years old. 6 feet 2 inches tall. Second-generation disciple of the Jonnaam Sect. Having gained great enlightenment from Chung-Myung, the third-generation disciple of the Hwasan Sect, he stubbornly perseveres in the flow of Jonnaam, which has become obsessed with the Twelve Snowflake Sword Forms, and is training in the Thirty-Six Heavenly Swords (天下三十六劍). The Thirty-Six Heavenly Swords is a sword technique that embodies the true meaning of Jonnaam, where the world is centered around me and consists of thirty-six directions, and the sword is perfected by perfectly thrusting, swinging, and blocking the sword in those thirty-six directions. Its power is comparable to the Plum Blossom Swordplay of Hwasan, but the Jonnaam Sect, having lost its essence, abandoned their own swords and became engrossed in the Twelve Snowflake Sword Forms, which stole the martial arts of Hwasan. He is said to have considerable patience, and he considers Chung-Myung, who is 9 years younger than him, as his teacher, using the title 'Little Dojo' and speaking respectfully. Their first meeting was the worst, and he eventually exploded at the time, but even then, he didn't use harsh words, showing that he is a person of the right path (正道).

He trains in the Thirty-Six Heavenly Swords alone, and in the process, he has become a strong contender, enduring the scorn of those around him. This is because the Jonnaam Sect is so blinded by the belief that the Twelve Snowflake Sword Forms are a great swordsmanship. As Chung-Myung said, the Twelve Snowflake Sword Forms are just a shell of a sword, and those who practice it will eventually become inferior versions of the Hwasan Sect and perish, but Jonnaam doesn't know this and only pursues the Twelve Snowflake Sword Forms. In such a situation, only Lee Song-baek, who adheres to the Thirty-Six Heavenly Swords, is the talent who can revive Jonnaam, which is destined to perish. It's not for nothing that Chung-Myung calls Lee Song-baek the last spark and hope of Jonnaam. In fact, it's not even accurate to say he's enduring it, as he doesn't care about the opinions of others if it's for his goals and ideals, regardless of what the members say. And according to Chung-Myung's assessment, he is the type to achieve great things, and he is a talent who could aim for the best sword of Jonnaam in the future.

He is only affiliated with Jonnaam, but he learns a lot from Chung-Myung and is growing, to the point where it can be said that he considers Chung-Myung as his teacher. He has seen the teachings he received when he first met Chung-Myung, as well as the realm of unity of body and sword (身劍合一) that Lee Song-baek should aim for, from Chung-Myung. He feels considerable awe towards Chung-Myung because he gains one teaching that will change his future every time he meets Chung-Myung.

Jin Geum-ryong is his senior brother, and they weren't on good terms at first, but they later become close enough to exchange light jokes. In fact, Lee Song-baek is probably the only one in Jonnaam who can joke with Jin Geum-ryong... He maintains a certain formality with Baek Cheon, Jin Geum-ryong's younger brother and the second-generation disciple of the Hwasan Sect, as the acting head of Hwasan.

He has a diligent and polite personality. As mentioned earlier, he has considerable patience, and he doesn't even respond to any ridicule in Jonnaam. He doesn't talk much, and according to Jong Seo-han, he is taciturn. Later, he gently and softly admonishes his disciples who follow him, but there is a subtle sting in his words, and the disciples struggle with it.
