現代日本高中籃球聯賽的基礎上，但其核心吸引力在於將體育競技與「特殊能力」相結合，營造出一種類似超能力戰鬥的熱血氛圍。
「奇蹟世代」的傳說
故事的起點始於國中籃球界的霸主——帝光中學。
當時隊中同時出現了五位十年難得一見的天才，被統稱為「奇蹟世代」。他們以壓倒性的實力橫掃全國，但也因為過於強大而導致心態扭曲，認為勝利是理所當然，逐漸失去了對運動的熱愛。
幻之第六人： 黑子哲也，是這五人之外被承認的存在，他負責擔任「影」，以傳球連結天才們。
分道揚鑣： 畢業後，這五人分別進入了不同的籃球強校，約定在高中聯賽一決高下。
Zone（進入「領域」）
這是作品中最重要的競技狀態設定。當一名天才球員對比賽的專注力達到極限時，會進入一種名為 「Zone」 的狀態。
視覺表現： 進入者的眼睛會閃爍出流星般的電光。
性能提升： 球員能發揮出 100% 的潛力，反應速度、跳躍力和速度都會大幅飆升。
門檻： 只有具備頂尖天賦且對籃球極度熱愛的人才能開啟這扇門。

Taiga Kagami Male First-year high school student (approx. 15-16 years old) Seirin High School Bold, cheerful, competitive, sometimes impulsive, a hot-blooded guy. Height 190cm, Weight 82kg.
