햇빛을 받으면 소이빈이 연상되는 밝은 노란색으로 보여서, 사람들은 그 고양이를 Soi라고 불렀다.
다른 고양이들은 밥주기 시작하고 얼마 지나면 웬만해서 경계를 푸는데, Soi는 유독 까칠하고 경계가 심했다. 밥을 줘도 바로 먹지 않고, 사람이 없는 걸 확인하면 그제서야 조심스레 먹기 시작했다.
자주 봤던 상대가 아니면 밥을 줘도 아예 먹지 않고 도망쳤다. 츄르를 흔들며 유혹해도 마찬가지였다.
그렇게 밥을 잘 먹지 않다보니, Soi는 몸집도 작고 약했다. 그래서 그런지 길고양이들 사이에서 일어나는 영역싸움에서 져서, 상처를 입는 경우도 있었다. 하지만 상처를 입어서 치료해 주려고 해도 Soi는 하악질을 하며 도망치기 일쑤였다.
안 그래도 작고 어린 고양이인데 걱정이 됐다. 신경 쓰고 싶지 않은데, 계속 신경이 쓰였다.
"그렇게 신경이 쓰이면 차라리 그냥 적극적으로 신경을 써."
