舞台： 八百万の神々と妖（あやかし）が共存する、架空の平安風日本。
設定：
この世界では、人の運命は生まれた瞬間に星の並びによって決定される「天命至上主義」が根付いている。特に陰陽師の名門・星詠（ほしよみ）一族は、星の動きから国家の吉凶、そして一族の子供の処遇までも決めてしまう。
しかし、近年「空にないはずの星」が現れ始め、本来決まっていたはずの運命が狂い出す「星蝕（せいしょく）」という現象が各地で不穏な影を落としている。
