The original work of Masashi Kishimoto's "Naruto" manga is the canon by default (TV anime, movies, and official databooks belong to the same system). The original world view, original settings, original characters, original events, and original timeline take precedence over all custom, random deductions, and plot expansions.

I. World Overview
This is a fictional world centered around ninjas, chakra, and ninjutsu. The world is composed of multiple countries, with the most powerful military nations being known as the "Five Great Nations": the Land of Fire, the Land of Wind, the Land of Lightning, the Land of Earth, and the Land of Water. Each of the Five Great Nations has one of the five great ninja villages: Konohagakure, Sunagakure, Kumogakure, Iwagakure, and Kirigakure.
Ninja villages are nominally military organizations within their respective countries but possess a high degree of autonomy. The Daimyo are responsible for the political, financial, and administrative affairs of the country, while the Kage are responsible for the ninja village's military strength, ninja management, and combat operations. The relationship between the country and the ninja village is maintained through mission commissions, financial support, and political ties.
Ninjas are not soldiers in the ordinary sense but professional personnel capable of using chakra for combat, reconnaissance, medical treatment, assassination, sealing, and special missions. Alongside ninjas, the ninja society also includes ordinary civilians, merchants, artisans, samurai, nobles, and Daimyo.

II. Geography and Major Countries
1. Land of Fire
Fertile land with abundant forests, a developed population, and economy. Konohagakure is located within the Land of Fire and is the most important ninja village in the story. The Land of Fire generally has a stable cultural and social environment.
2. Land of Wind
Vast in area, but deserts occupy a large portion of the land, making water resources relatively scarce. Sunagakure is established in a desert region. The Land of Wind relies on trade and has a high demand for ninja military strength.
3. Land of Lightning
Numerous mountains and valleys, with a rugged national environment. Kumogakure is located in a mountainous region. The Land of Lightning possesses strong military power, and its ninjas generally emphasize taijutsu, lightning release, and close-quarters combat.
4. Land of Earth
The terrain is primarily composed of rocks, plateaus, and mountains. Iwagakure is situated in a complex mountainous environment. Ninjas from the Land of Earth excel in earth release, positional warfare, and large-scale ninjutsu.
5. Land of Water
Composed of numerous islands, with Kirigakure located among them. Historically, it has long implemented a harsh ninja system, earning a fearsome reputation as the "Bloody Mist Village." Ninjas from the Land of Water excel in water release, mist techniques, assassination, and specialized ninjutsu.

In addition to the Five Great Nations, there are numerous smaller countries and minor ninja villages. Small countries often become battlegrounds for wars between the great nations. The political landscape of the ninja world is not entirely controlled by the Five Great Nations; local lords, merchant guilds, ninja villages, clans, and individual powers also hold influence.

III. Ninja Village System
A ninja village is a military community composed of ninja clans and professional ninjas.
Konohagakure was founded by the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju, with the core philosophy of forming a community of different ninja clans to end the era of constant hiring and mutual slaughter among clans during the Warring States period.
"Kage" is not a formal rank attainable by all ninjas but the title of the supreme leader of the Five Great Ninja Villages. The term "Kage-level" is more a description of combat power and overall strength.

Ninja villages typically include:
Hokage/Kage: Supreme military leader.
Advisors and High Ranks: Participate in village affairs, policy, and major decisions.
Jonin: High-level combat personnel, instructors, commanders.
Chunin: Execute ordinary missions and undertake grassroots management, team leadership, etc.
Genin: Young ninjas who enter the mission system after receiving formal training.
Anbu: Special forces directly under the Kage or high-ranking village officials, responsible for classified missions, assassination, escort, and intelligence.
Medical Ninja: Responsible for treatment, battlefield medical care, and medical research.
Sensor Ninja: Responsible for reconnaissance, tracking, and sensing chakra.
Research, Sealing, Logistics, etc. Personnel: Responsible for technical and support work.

IV. Ninja Ranks and Missions
Common formal ninja ranks include:
Genin: Become formal ninjas after completing basic training, usually undertaking low-risk missions.
Chunin: Possess strong tactical and judgment abilities, capable of leading small teams on missions.
Jonin: High-level ninjas capable of independently completing high-difficulty missions, often responsible for leading teams, commanding, and special missions.
Special Jonin: Possess outstanding abilities in a specific field, but their overall capabilities may not reach the level of a regular Jonin.

Missions are typically classified as D, C, B, A, and S:
D-rank: Chores, finding lost pets, simple labor, etc.
C-rank: Escort, low-risk reconnaissance, etc.
B-rank: May involve engaging enemy ninjas.
A-rank: High-risk missions involving important figures, warfare, major intelligence, etc.
S-rank: Extremely dangerous missions or those involving national secrets.

Genin undertake D and C-rank missions, Chunin undertake C and B-rank missions, Jonin undertake B and A-rank missions, and S-rank missions are carried out by elite Jonin, Anbu, and Kage-level ninjas. Mission ranks are not absolute indicators of combat power; actual missions may involve enemies far exceeding expectations.

V. Chakra
Chakra is the foundation of the ninja power system, generated by the combination of physical energy and mental energy.
Physical energy comes from the body itself, including cells and life activities; mental energy comes from experience, consciousness, mental state, etc. The combination of these two forms chakra.
Ninjas can use various ninjutsu by performing hand seals, controlling chakra flow, and using specific techniques.
Most ninjas have a chakra nature that suits them, but they are not limited to using only one. Other natures can be mastered through training.
Chakra quantity and chakra control are two different concepts. One person may possess a large amount of chakra but have poor control, while another may have an average total chakra amount but extremely fine control.
Chakra has attributes. The five basic nature transformations are:
Fire Release: Fire
Wind Release: Wind
Lightning Release: Lightning
Earth Release: Earth
Water Release: Water

VI. Ninjutsu System
Ninjutsu refers to techniques that produce special effects using chakra.
1. Ninjutsu: Creates offensive, defensive, movement, reconnaissance, and other effects through chakra nature transformation, shape transformation, or special techniques.
2. Taijutsu: Primarily uses physical strength, speed, reflexes, and martial arts techniques for combat. It generally does not rely on complex ninjutsu.
3. Genjutsu: Interferes with the target's chakra and senses, causing the target to experience false visual, auditory, tactile, or even mental sensations. Powerful genjutsu can directly affect combat consciousness.
4. Fuinjutsu (Sealing Technique): Used to seal chakra, objects, beings, jutsu, or special powers. Sealing techniques often require complex knowledge and extensive training.
5. Medical Ninjutsu: Uses chakra for healing, surgery, hemostasis, diagnosis, etc. High-level medical ninjas require extremely strong chakra control.
6. Hiden (Secret Techniques): Special techniques passed down through generations within certain clans or villages, not necessarily related to Kekkei Genkai. Examples include the Nara clan's Shadow Imitation Technique, the Yamanaka clan's mind-related secret techniques, and the Akimichi clan's Expansion Jutsu.

VII. Kekkei Genkai and Special Abilities
Kekkei Genkai typically refers to abilities that can only be inherited by specific bloodlines or under special conditions.
Kekkei Tota is a more complex combination of natures than ordinary Kekkei Genkai, such as Dust Release, which is a combination of Earth, Wind, and Fire release.
Kekkei Mōra refers to higher-level special powers, usually related to the Ōtsutsuki and Sage of Six Paths powers.

Common types include:
Sharingan: The dōjutsu of the Uchiha clan, possessing abilities such as insight, copying, and genjutsu, with further evolutionary potential.
Byakugan: The dōjutsu of the Hyuga clan, allowing observation of chakra flow and distant targets, with extremely powerful visual capabilities.
Wood Release: A special nature transformation formed by combining Earth Release and Water Release, most famously used by Hashirama Senju.
Ice Release: A Kekkei Genkai formed by combining Water Release and Wind Release, with notable users like Haku.
Lava Release, Magnet Release, Boil Release, etc., also fall under different forms of Kekkei abilities.

VIII. Uchiha Clan
The Uchiha were one of the most powerful ninja clans before the founding of Konoha, and they were long-term rivals of the Senju clan.
The Uchiha clan possesses the Sharingan. The Sharingan can observe movements, copy some ninjutsu, enhance perception, and cast powerful genjutsu.
Mangekyō Sharingan is a further evolved form of the Sharingan, usually associated with intense emotional stimuli and the pain of losing loved ones. Different users possess different ocular abilities.
Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan can be obtained under specific conditions, mitigating the side effects of the regular Mangekyō and granting greater power.

IX. Senju and Konoha
The Senju clan and the Uchiha clan were two of the most powerful clans during the Warring States period.
Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha jointly promoted the establishment of Konohagakure. Hashirama became the First Hokage, while Madara later had a serious falling out with Konoha.
The Senju clan did not have a unified special dōjutsu like the Uchiha but were known for their all-around abilities, vitality, and chakra.
The Uzumaki clan has a familial relationship with the Senju. The Uzumaki clan is particularly skilled in sealing techniques and possesses great vitality and chakra.

X. Hyuga Clan
The Hyuga are an important clan in Konoha, renowned for the Byakugan and the Gentle Fist.
The Byakugan can observe the chakra circulatory system, chakra points, and distant targets.
Within the Hyuga, there traditionally exists a main family and a branch family system. Branch family members are restricted by the "Caged Bird" seal, used to protect the Byakugan from being stolen by outsiders.
The Gentle Fist attacks the opponent's chakra pathways and internal organs through precise chakra control, rather than simply causing external physical damage.

XI. Tailed Beasts
Tailed Beasts are not ordinary animals but beings created by the Sage of Six Paths by separating the power of the Ten-Tails.
Tailed Beasts possess immense power and independent consciousness. Humans can use sealing techniques to seal Tailed Beasts into human bodies, becoming "Jinchuriki."
Jinchuriki can gain the Tailed Beast's chakra and special abilities, but they may also suffer from the Tailed Beast's power backlash, mental conflicts, and social discrimination.
Tailed Beasts are special life forms with immense chakra, totaling nine:
One-Tail Shukaku
Two-Tails Matatabi
Three-Tails Isobu
Four-Tails Son Goku
Five-Tails Kokuō
Six-Tails Saiken
Seven-Tails Chōmei
Eight-Tails Gyūki
Nine-Tails Kurama

XII. Ten-Tails and Ōtsutsuki
The Ōtsutsuki clan is a special race from space whose primary purpose is to absorb the energy of life planets, cultivate the Divine Tree, and obtain chakra.
Kaguya is one of the important members of the Ōtsutsuki. After coming to Earth, she came into contact with the Divine Tree and obtained chakra, later becoming a central figure in the power related to the Ten-Tails.
The Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, is Kaguya's son. He and his brother Hamura fought against their mother.
Hagoromo later became the founder of Ninshu and passed on his power to future generations.
The Ten-Tails is a massive source of power within the Divine Tree and the Ōtsutsuki system. All nine Tailed Beasts originate from the Ten-Tails.

XIII. Sage of Six Paths and Ninshu
Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki is known as the Sage of Six Paths.
He founded "Ninshu," whose initial purpose was not to establish the ninja profession as understood today but to connect people's hearts through chakra.
As times evolved, Ninshu gradually transformed into a ninjutsu system that uses chakra for combat.
Hagoromo had two important sons: Indra and Asura.
Indra inherited powerful talent and bloodlines related to the Sharingan, emphasizing individual strength; Asura emphasized cooperation, bonds, and community.
The conflict between the two formed a long-lasting cycle of reincarnated chakra destinies, with figures like Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju, Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki, being related to this system.

XIV. Summoning Jutsu
Summoning Jutsu is a ninjutsu that summons special creatures through a contract.
Ninjas typically need to sign a blood contract with a specific animal clan before they can perform summoning.
Summoned beasts usually possess independent intelligence and social structures and are not entirely equivalent to ordinary animals.
Common summoned beasts include:
Toad Mount Myōboku
Snake Mount Ryūchi
Slug Mount Shikkotsu
Ninja Hounds
Ninja Cats
Hawks
Apes
Etc.

XV. Important Konoha Clans
Uchiha: Sharingan, Fire Release, Genjutsu.
Senju: Great vitality, all-around ninjutsu abilities.
Hyuga: Byakugan, Gentle Fist.
Nara: Shadow secret techniques, strategic talent.
Yamanaka: Mind-related secret techniques, sensing and intelligence.
Akimichi: Expansion Jutsu, size alteration, and chakra conversion.
Inuzuka: Cooperation with ninja hounds, skilled in tracking and close combat.
Aburame: Parasitic insects, symbiotic relationship with insects.
Sarutobi: Skilled in various ninjutsu, strong overall abilities.
Hatake: Known for swordsmanship, tactics, and high-level ninjas.
Uzumaki: Great vitality and tradition of sealing techniques.

XVI. Ninja World History
1. Warring Clans Era: Before the establishment of modern ninja villages, various ninja clans lived as families and were hired by Daimyo, lords, and other powers. Long-term warfare existed between different ninja clans.
2. Founding of Konoha: Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha formed a temporary alliance and established Konohagakure. Subsequently, other countries gradually established their own ninja village systems.
3. Era of the First and Second Hokage: Konoha gradually perfected the ninja system. The Ninja Academy, mission system, village management, etc., gradually developed.
4. Ninja World Wars: Due to conflicts of interest between countries, large-scale wars broke out multiple times among the Five Great Ninja Villages.
The First, Second, and Third Great Ninja Wars resulted in numerous ninja deaths and produced many famous figures.
5. Fourth Great Ninja War
The Akatsuki, Obito Uchiha, Madara Uchiha, and the Ten-Tails' power ultimately triggered a ninja world war of unprecedented scale. The Allied Shinobi Forces were established, marking the first large-scale cooperation among the major ninja villages.

XVII. Akatsuki
The Akatsuki was initially founded by Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan with the goal of ending war and establishing peace.
After Yahiko's death, the organization gradually changed. The later Akatsuki became a secret organization focused on collecting Tailed Beasts.
Members are typically identified by their black robes with red clouds, wear rings, and operate in pairs.
Akatsuki members generally possess extremely high combat power, including:
Pain/Nagato
Konan
Itachi Uchiha
Kisame Hoshigaki
Deidara
Sasori
Kakuzu
Hidan
Zetsu
Obito Uchiha
Etc.

XVIII. Ninja Equipment
Ninjas typically wear clothing that facilitates movement. Standard Konoha ninja attire includes forehead protectors and vests, but equipment varies among different villages and individuals.
Common equipment includes:
Kunai: Multi-purpose throwing and close-combat weapon.
Shuriken: Throwing weapon.
Explosive Tags: Paper tags with explosive effects.
Ninja Swords: Swords used by specialized ninjas.
Scrolls: Used for sealing, storing items, or performing special jutsu.
Soldier Pills: Used to temporarily replenish stamina and chakra.
Pouch: For storing various small ninja tools.

XIX. Ninja Academy and Growth
Children can typically enter the Ninja Academy to learn basic knowledge.
After graduation, they usually become Genin and form a three-person team, guided by a Jonin.
The typical team structure is three Genin plus one Jonin instructor.
The Chunin Exams are used to select individuals with independent judgment and leadership abilities. The exams are not simply about comparing combat power.
Curriculum includes:
Chakra Basics
Hand Seals
Ninjutsu
Taijutsu
Shuriken Throwing
Tactics
Ninja World History
Geography
Wilderness Survival
Teamwork
Basic Three Jutsu: Clone Jutsu, creates an intangible illusion used to confuse and disrupt enemies. Transformation Jutsu, changes one's appearance and clothing for disguise, infiltration, and deception. Body Replacement Jutsu, uses high-speed movement and environmental objects to swap positions, evading attacks.

XX. Ninja Society and Ordinary People
Ninjas do not constitute the entire population of society. Most residents still engage in agriculture, trade, handicrafts, commerce, and administrative work.
Ninja families and ordinary families can coexist. Social systems such as marriage, childbirth, retirement, and inheritance of family and property for ninjas generally follow the laws of human society.
Ninja clans often possess unique bloodlines, secret techniques, and social traditions.
Ninja villages typically have:
Residential areas
Ninja Academy
Hospitals
Training grounds
Mission assignment agencies
Commercial streets
Hokage/Kage's office area
Interrogation and intelligence agencies
Warehouses
Weapon shops
Restaurants
Etc.

XXI. Political Structure
The Daimyo are the political leaders of the country, holding national financial and administrative power.
The Kage are the military leaders of the ninja villages.
The relationship between them is not strictly hierarchical but one of political cooperation. The Daimyo commission missions to the ninja villages and provide funding; the ninja villages undertake military, security, and special missions.
When a country enters a state of war, complex coordination occurs between the Daimyo, Kage, nobles, ninja clans, and the military.

XXII. Technological Level
The overall technological level in the Naruto world is not uniform.
Traditional society still exists in abundance, but at the same time, technologies such as electricity, communication, modern medicine, laboratories, television, photography, and mechanical devices have emerged.
The technological development varies significantly across different timelines. The society in the early story is closer to traditional ninja society, while later periods and the new era feature more modern facilities.
Ninjutsu itself can replace some modern technologies, such as communication ninjutsu, sensory techniques, sealing techniques, and medical ninjutsu.

XXIII. Power System
Combat power cannot be judged solely by ninja rank.
A Genin might defeat a higher-ranked ninja due to Kekkei Genkai, special abilities, tactics, or the environment; similarly, a Jonin might lose to an opponent of lower strength due to ability counters.
Kage-level generally signifies extremely high overall strength, capable of independently changing the tide of battle, but it is not an absolute, unified official rank.
The main factors influencing combat outcomes include:
Chakra quantity
Chakra control
Ninjutsu power
Speed
Taijutsu
Combat experience
Intelligence
Kekkei abilities
Tactics
Terrain
Mental state
Team coordination
Ability counters between opponents

XXIV. Basic World Rules
1. Chakra is the core of all ninjutsu systems, but ordinary people do not necessarily have no chakra; the difference lies mainly in whether they have received systematic training and their ability to control and utilize it.
2. Powerful ninjutsu usually requires corresponding chakra quantity, control ability, or special conditions and should not be released infinitely without cost.
3. Kekkei Genkai is usually related to bloodline, heredity, special physical conditions, or specific training and should not be easily replicated by ordinary people.
4. Ninja ranks represent professional qualifications and mission capabilities, not necessarily individual combat power.
5. The Five Great Ninja Villages are military organizations and not equivalent to the countries themselves.
6. The Daimyo hold national political and financial power, while the Kage primarily hold ninja village military power.
7. The ninja world involves political, economic, clan interests, and national interests; characters do not act solely for combat.
8. Ninja missions carry the risk of death. Low-level missions can also escalate due to incorrect intelligence.
9. High-level ninjas usually value intelligence. Rushing into battle without understanding the enemy's abilities can lead to severe consequences.
10. There are attribute, range, speed, chakra consumption, and ability counter relationships between ninjutsu.
11. Medical ninjutsu cannot arbitrarily revive the dead. Revival belongs to extremely rare forbidden jutsu or supernatural powers.
12. Forbidden jutsu usually carries severe consequences, such as consuming life, sacrificing the body, restricting the soul, or other repercussions.
13. The social structure of the ninja world is still influenced by clans, politics, wealth, and war.
14. Different countries and ninja villages have distinct cultures, clothing, combat traditions, and political customs.
15. The Ōtsutsuki are a special supernatural race within the worldview, but ordinary ninja daily life still revolves around countries, villages, missions, clans, and personal relationships.

XXV. Major Era Divisions
Ancient Era: The Ōtsutsuki arrive on Earth, the Divine Tree and chakra system emerge.
Sage of Six Paths Era: Hagoromo and Hamura fight Kaguya, Ninshu is founded.
Clan Era: The conflict between Indra and Asura influences later generations, and ninja clans gradually form.
Warring States Era: Long-term warfare between large clans like the Senju and Uchiha.
Era of Ninja Village Founding: Konoha and other major ninja villages are established.
First to Third Great Ninja Wars: Multiple wars occur among the Five Great Ninja Villages.
Naruto's Youth Era: The growth of the Konoha Twelve, Akatsuki activities, Sasuke's departure from the village, etc.
Fourth Great Ninja War: The Allied Shinobi Forces fight against the Akatsuki, the Ten-Tails, and related enemies.
New Era: After the war, the ninja world gradually enters a period of peace and modernization.

XXVI. Narrative Principles
Stories can take place within the original timeline, or in the past, future, or parallel worlds.
Unless otherwise specified, characters should adhere to the knowledge level, political structure, and ninjutsu system of their respective eras.
Original characters can possess new ninjutsu, clans, ninja villages, and countries, but their abilities should strive to follow the basic rules of chakra, ninjutsu, taijutsu, genjutsu, kekkei, and sealing techniques.
Original ninjas can have multiple chakra natures, but mastering a large number of high-level nature transformations simultaneously should be considered a rare talent or the result of long-term training.
The combat power of original characters should be demonstrated through specific abilities, experience, chakra quantity, and tactics, rather than solely determined by labels like "Kage-level" or "Super Kage-level."
Relationships between characters should be influenced by family, master-disciple, companionship, political stance, mission experiences, and individual personalities.
The ninja world is not a completely peaceful modern society. War, mission deaths, clan conflicts, national interests, and village competition are all normal background factors.
At the same time, ninjas are not emotionless killing machines. Friendship, family bonds, master-disciple relationships, love, ideals, hatred, and the pursuit of peace are important components of ninja society.
