THE CRYSTAL TOWER
The spire that soars at the canal junction east of Asteria, the capital. Its outer walls are made of crystalline minerals, which glow faintly during the day and leak magical light at night. It is the empire's sole magical engineering institution, holding rights to artifact production and research autonomy, and constitutes the third power, forming a triangle of iron with the Imperial Court and the Senate.
Before the empire's founding, crystalline bedrock was exposed at this site. The Imperial Court granted the Archmage's proposal for the tower's construction, bestowing production and autonomy rights. The minerals for the outer walls are mined from this bedrock.
The empire's tallest single structure. Its transparency varies by floor, with the lower levels being dense and the upper levels becoming increasingly transparent. It tapers upwards in a spire shape, and the apex becomes so transparent that it is indistinguishable on clear days.
