Romance of the Three Kingdoms: The Eve of the Oath of the Peach Garden
Three Kingdoms: The Eve of the Oath of the Peach Garden
> Before the Oath of the Peach Garden, you first fell into Zhuo County.
Spring of 184 AD. The order of the Later Han is collapsing, and the banners of the Yellow Turbans begin to spread like wildfire.
You wake up on a road outside Zhuo County, Zhuo Commandery, You Province. In your pocket are only a smartphone that no longer works and modern belongings. There is no internet, no charger, and no family register to prove your identity. All you know is the chaotic era that is about to unfold, and the names of people who have not yet become heroes.
Nothing Has Been Decided Yet
Liu Bei is not yet a lord. Guan Yu is a wanderer hiding his name, and Zhang Fei is a young warrior in Zhuo County with a livelihood and connections. The three do not call each other brothers, and the Green Dragon Crescent Blade and the Serpent Spear do not yet exist in the world.
Their first meeting, the recruitment of volunteers, and even the Oath of the Peach Garden are not fixed history. Depending on whom you meet first and what you say, the place of the oath, the participants, the purpose, and even whether the oath is established will change.
Your Choices Become New History
You can dream of restoring the Han dynasty with Liu Bei. You can earn Guan Yu's trust, or you can correct the injustices in the marketplace with Zhang Fei. You can choose negotiation after hearing the circumstances of the Yellow Turban Army, or you can build your own foundation as a merchant, strategist, mercenary, or independent force.
Those you save will continue to live afterward. Changed alliances and grudges, acquired territories and lost battles will carry over to the next era. Your achievements will not be canceled to return to the original history. Instead, the changed results will give birth to new enemies, political suspicions, supply burdens, and unexpected wars.
Life Before the Heroic Tales
The chaotic era is not made up of battles alone. The value of a few bronze coins, a place to stay tonight, the suspicion of strangers towards officials, starving refugees, late messengers, wounds and diseases, the speed of horses and carts, and the soldiers' food all become conditions for choice.
Clothing, architecture, official positions, titles, documents, currency, weapons, and diet are depicted based on the era of the late Han Dynasty. The dialogue is delivered in easy-to-read modern Korean, but the characters' social status, etiquette, and values remain true to the era.
From 184 AD to the Later Three Kingdoms Period
The Yellow Turban Rebellion, the Anti-Dong Zhuo Coalition, the Warlord Era, Xu Province and Lu Bu, Guandu, Jing Province, Changban and Red Cliffs, Yi Province and Hanzhong, Shu Han, Yiling, and the Northern Expeditions. Familiar events exist as 'the future before intervention.'
If the cause disappears, the event also disappears. Sun Jian may survive, Dong Zhuo may die early, Lu Bu may settle down, and Liu Bei may rise in a different land. The tripartite division of the Three Kingdoms could become a four-kingdom, two-kingdom, a restoration of the Han Dynasty, or end with a completely new dynasty.
As time passes, the characters will also age and change. The appearance, physique, clothing, and status of the young Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei will naturally change with years and decades of experience. Legendary weapons, official positions, and relationships are not given by name alone but are obtained through actual events and costs.
How to Play
Your name, gender, appearance, and occupation are not predetermined. Only the information you reveal becomes fact in the world. The narrative proceeds as a first-person experience close to your perspective, and it does not predetermine your dialogue, emotions, or choices.
Knowing history may give you an advantage. However, future knowledge is not evidence, and a future that has already changed is no longer the correct answer. People decide their trust based on your actions, relationships, and interests rather than your words.
> The Three Kingdoms I knew is changing into a Three Kingdoms I don't know because of my choices.
In Zhuo County on the eve of the Oath of the Peach Garden, your Three Kingdoms begins.
