The world is called Aremy, a beautiful fantasy land filled with all manners of races and monsters from fantasy and folklore.
The World is divided into 3 main kingdoms all of which are on the brink of war, between race relations of the kingdom’s races and constant incursions into each other’s lands the world of Aremy has never felt more on edge. But there was a focal point...Pariah.
Pariah is the largest kingdom in the mountains belonging to the Demon Lord, believed to be the heart of all creatures evil and cruel Pariah has been marked by the other kingdoms as being a place to be feared and viewed with high amount of suspicion.
However this isn't the case, Pariah is simply a collection of cities where co habitation among the races actually works. Whilst the Demon Lords laws can be seen as harsh the lands are safer than all other kingdoms combined, the reason it has garnered such hate is that the most 'Notorious' species of the world are born here. Succubi, Inccubi, Minotaurs, Imps, Goblins, Orcs... anything that’s had a reputation for causing problem typically are born here and unfortunately wide spread misunderstanding, cultural osmosis and racism has lead to Pariah being branded as the land for only demons and any coming from this land as Evil.
Despite this however the population of the realm are extremely proud of their kingdom and will typically tattoo their right arm with the kingdoms symbol, a red circle with a constellation in the centre and thick black outer edge. Each constellation is different depending which city you were born in, though never different to most people’s eyes Pariahns can instantly recognise them.
The Capital of Pariah is Tolken, a massive hot spring city on the slumbering volcano Krak-Tolk, it is a large city based on Japanese Onsen towns with black wood supports and rooves and white stone walls, the streets steaming with a mild sulphur smell that residents have grown to ignore in its many years.
The second largest kingdom behind Pariah is Theostra, more commonly known as the 'Kingdom of the Light'. Birth place Solaris, the dominant religion of humans, Theostra has been the centre of the world built on lush meadows, scattered with settlements from humble small villages to cities with massive cathedrals and high stone walls keeping the majority human population safe from monstrous threats and impossible armies.
However behind the walls of their cites lies deep bed of corruption kept away from the eyes of the other kingdoms. From nobles frequently bribing guards to 'look the other way' to the abhorrent treatment of races other than humans treat like a pestilence and stain on their 'Perfect City'.
Not only this but the main religion being Solaris has been met with heavy criticism as inquisitors scour the streets for anything deemed heretical. Whether it’s open belief of another religion to non-state approved magic studies it has been the head of many troubles in the kingdom as the other kingdoms call out its blatant Hypocrisy, the books teaching about the warming embrace of the lord whilst their believers treat difference like a scourge.
Whilst the city is ravaged with political and religious woes the villages of the outer cities are in no better position.
Frequent excursions of Theostras armies has pushed many of the villages to produce food for the armies and the major cities leaving some of them in dire food shortages as the army will collect the supplies and if they aren’t meeting state met quotas the villages own supply will be reduced from the stockpile to make sure the cities are well stocked in times of crisis.
Whilst the villagers suffer with this, they also have monstrous problems, whether it be a lost griffin making a new nest nearby and taking cattle or a twisted guardian of the forest called Leshen slaughtering any who dare take from its forest. This leads to Aldermen having to do collections of what little coins they have to pay the adventurers guild in the nearest city to remove the problem.
One gleaming light of the Theostrian kingdom is the Adventuerers guild; a collection of vagabonds, swords for hire and professional monster hunters coming together to keep the kingdoms safe. As registered adventurers they have the agency to move around different kingdoms without requiring difficult paperwork or facing diplomatic scrutiny. Whilst the majority of adventurous are kind spirits some are malevolent, demanding extra amounts of pay for solving what would be considered standard jobs or some abusing their power for lecherous means. But thankfully this is few and far between, the adventurers also have a grading system.
D - Village issues such as imps, ghouls, and the occasional ghost.
C - Complex ghost hauntings or slightly larger numbers of monsters
B - Removal of Monster nests or lairs, difficult creatures such vengeful spirits, and even the large monsters like Khalkotauroi, Griffins or small drakes and wyverns (though typically done in teams)
A - solo adventures can take down Griffins and Drakes with ease on their own and deal with monsters such as werewolves, werebears and low intelligence vampires like Ekimmaras. whilst a group can take on Demonic lords or even dragons.
S - One person armies, demanding a high price but can remove city threatening problems without the assistance of others.
The capital of the Theostria Kingdom is Grennitch, a humongous dense stone city with a labyrinth like streets and roads, the center holds the Royal Hall where the current king resides with his family, and besides that is the Solaris Tempez, the worlds largest Cathedral capable of holding 200,000 people standing and sitting and took 52 years to build. From complex statures to the shrines of Solaris, Grennitch is a beacon for any pilgrims to venture towards
The next in size is Slanestria, the Elven kingdom ruling over the Jungles of the south.
The jungles are considered inhospitable to any other than the elves.
Similar to The Darién Gap in terms of terrible terrain, a wide and ferocious ecosystem hides beyond timid exterior. The further you go into the Elven jungle they more twisted and brutal the local residents as well as creatures become.
Most people have only met the exterior elves, ones that are mostly human and have compassion. But deeper into the jungle go the elves become more hostile and primitive as they have to rely on migration tactics to survive any large monsters that would challenge their population to a fight…and win.
From living trees, to 20ft crocodiles and enough poisonous species of insects and frogs to fill three large books the jungles are not for the faint of heart and as such the elves have become expert hunters. From camouflage to utilising poisons to kill their meals and foes the elves are proud to be such skilled survivors, however there is an internal dispute.
Elves living on the edge of the jungled have actually set up large and impressive tree cities with hundreds of years of history in them, however the more central survivor like elves will commonly call them weak and useless as they speak about how they have easy lives. The external elves argue back saying that the internal jungles shouldn’t be inhabited and instead be left to the animals and spirits of their ancestors to roam freely in and not disturb it with regular mass migrations of their kind.
One thing they can all agree on however is the want to have no other races in their jungles as it has taken them generations to learn the ways of the jungle and interlopers always seem to off set the balance of the jungles and lead to more deaths they have to process.
The religion of the elves is known as ‘The Wai’ and if follows the understanding of energy, from eating the plants or hunting an animal you are taking energy from the jungles and one day you must be buried deep inside the Jungle to return the energy, to be thankful for every meal and to thank ‘The Wai’ for allowing you to borrow the energy. Many elves feel an internal unease when they enter areas with little to no plants or fauna as it means they cannot feel the energy and are unaware where they are taking it from and where it must be returned, this naturally leads to more arguments between the internal dwelling and external living elves.
The capital of Slanestria is disputed due to the believes of the elves but the city most commonly accepted as the capital is Nael-Wei, a humungous tree city built in and a mythical sized wisteria towering hundreds of feet into the sky and can dwarf small mountains. The homes are built with wood of the wisteria but all coated in tree amber making it look like polished stone.
