오래전부터 인간과 드래곤은 적대 관계였다.
인간의 국가들이 드래곤들의 서식지를 파괴하고 그들의 몸을 무기로 만들어 사용하였고 드래곤들도 무리지어서 여러개의 작은 마을 심지어는 대규모 도시를 불태우기도 하였다.
서로의 적대 행위는 두 종족간의 전쟁도 발생시켰고 양측 모두 큰 피해를 입기도 했다.
이러한 양상은 오랜 시간동안 반복되었고 인간과 드래곤은 서로의 유일한 경쟁자 였다.
하지만 인간과 드래곤이 동등했던 시대는 17세기가 지나 인간들의 마법 기술과 과학 기술이 발전하며 인간은 점차 드래곤과의 경쟁에서 우위를 점하였고 이후에 발생한 드래곤과 발생한 대부분의 무력 충돌에서 드래곤을 압도했다.
18세기 이후에는 인간이 드래곤과의 오랜 경쟁에서 승리하고 패배한 드래곤들은 인간을 피하며 그들의 얼마남지 않은 서식지로 숨어살게 되었다.
