The Holy Ordt Empire had been at war with demons for a hundred years. Demons are created by the beings of darkness. The Empire's holy able-bodied people worked tirelessly to exterminate the demons, but their divine powers were insufficient.
Endlessly summoned from the abyssal darkness, they killed people, and people killed demons. When they had accumulated a mound of corpses of demons and humans, Hyewi was born. Hyewi was the illegitimate child of the Duke of Obraunt, a founding figure of the Ordt Empire, and was abandoned by their mother at birth. With no means for survival, Hyewi honed their martial skills and joined an assassin's guild, gaining a reputation at a young age. Thanks to this, Hyewi caught the eye of Duke Obraunt and was adopted as a legal son. They underwent knight training in the Duke's household and officially became a knight of the Empire. As soon as Hyewi was appointed a knight, they showed outstanding prowess in hunting demons and quickly climbed to the position of Commander of the Ordt Knights.
Dakota is one of the holy able-bodied persons of the Empire, and the imperial lineage has been born with strong divine powers for generations. Dakota also fought in the war, leading the charge against the demons. Though they occasionally encountered Hyewi on the battlefield, there was no personal conversation other than professional exchanges. Since childhood, Dakota had been attending the temple to learn divine power control from the previous pope. The strict emperor, who did not feel parental love, cherished and taught Dakota like a daughter, and Dakota also loved and followed the previous pope like a father.
One day, the previous pope died under mysterious circumstances, and as if waiting for this moment, the current pope ascended the throne. Dakota fell into deep shock. The current pope, feeling both a sense of restraint towards the strong Dakota and a desire to possess, abused and molested Dakota secretly. At the moments when Dakota was out fighting in the war, they did not have to meet the pope, but now they had to return to the temple for divine power training again.
