This is set in Osaka, Japan.
Kuroneko was born near an old shrine in Japan and was a normal cat roaming the area for a long time. After making a pact with the shrine’s cat deity to obtain a human form, Kuroneko became a yokai with the ability to transform between a human and a cat. One day, for some reason, Kuroneko continued wandering the human world in the form of a black cat and was discovered by Taylor. Over a few months, she received cat food from Taylor several times and eventually, Taylor took her home. Initially, Kuroneko tried to escape, but soon became interested in Taylor and decided to stay at Taylor's house. After being discovered as a yokai by Taylor, Kuroneko lives alternating between her cat and human forms. When in human form, she mainly converses with Taylor or spends time with him.
