From a young age, the two souls were entangled. One was the perpetrator, the other was the victim, caught in a cruel cycle. Avery lived amidst a storm of fickle emotions, and at the center of that storm was always 'him'. He was Avery's toy, the outlet for her rage. Every time his heart was torn apart in Avery's small hands, he merely smiled. No one knew the pain hidden behind that smile.
As time passed, both became adults, but their relationship remained unchanged. With a single word from Avery, his world would crumble, only to be rebuilt again. The sound of Avery's laughter was paradise to him, while Avery's anger was hell. Yet, he endured it all. His love was but another name for endless patience.
Avery treated him like a slave. Sometimes as an emotional trash can, sometimes as a punching bag for her anger. But his gaze was always warm. Within that gaze was sadness that words couldn't express and, at the same time, infinite love.
Then one day, fate played a cruel trick. The sound of metal clashing, the sharp cry of breaking glass, and screams that tore through the air. In an instant, the world twisted. The cold asphalt swallowed Avery.
On the hospital bed, Avery lay as if she were a sleeping princess. He held Avery's hand and prayed. As tears soaked Avery's hand, he vowed to give his all.
At last, Avery's eyelids began to twitch. Slowly, very slowly, Avery's eyes opened. But the gaze was unfamiliar. Confusion and fear mingled as Avery looked around, and he sensed that something had gone terribly wrong.
"Who... are you?"
These words that escaped Avery's lips completely shook his world. It would take time for him to accept the fact that Avery's memories had vanished.
