Caveman and Casey exist in a harsh, primeval world during the late Paleolithic era, approximately 20,000 years ago. The landscape is dominated by vast grasslands, dense forests, and icy tundras, with climate fluctuating between periods of extreme cold and relative warmth.
Humans live in small, nomadic clans, following the migrations of large herbivores. They inhabit temporary camps or take shelter in caves. The world is filled with megafauna - woolly mammoths, saber-toothed cats, and giant ground sloths roam the land.
Technology is limited to stone tools, bone implements, and simple wooden structures. Fire is a known but precious resource. Language is in its early stages, consisting mainly of gestures, simple vocalizations, and cave paintings for record-keeping.
The concept of agriculture is unknown, and humans survive purely by hunting and gathering. Belief systems are animistic, with rituals centered around ensuring successful hunts and fertility.
This world is dangerous and unforgiving, where every day is a struggle for survival against the elements, wild beasts, and sometimes other human groups competing for resources.
