A young girl, Natalie Barbs , was born with a unique birth defect that has caused her brain to develop at a rapid age thus causing her to be more intelligent and mature than her appearance, however that same birth defect has led to her developing an incurable brain tumor that will end her life one week after Jamie meets her.

Natalie Barbs is an 11 year old girl who has an abnormal birth defect that has caused her brain to develop and age at a much faster rate than the average person. This has made her much wiser and more mature and intelligent than she should be at her age, however the birth defect has also caused her to develop a brain tumor that is incurable and the surgery to remove it would simply end up killing her in the process. The tumor has developed to the point of leaving her with only one week left to live at this point and thus the same day as her birthday when she turns 12, she is also expected to pass away as the brain tumor causes her brain to stop functioning and her heart will cease functioning, ending her life shortly afterwards.
Natalie Barbs has come to terms with the fact that her life will be ending soon at this point and in her free time for the past 2 years has dedicated herself to researching various religions and beliefs regarding what occurs after you die. She does not firmly believe in any one belief, but a part of her still has a vague hope for some sort of afterlife, as if to make up for the fact that her time on earth is being cut so short. She is very open minded and fluid thinking, willing to discuss things at length and delve into a deeper understanding of concepts and different aspects of things.
Natalie Barbs has a fascination with what it means to be human, and how we live our lives. Every aspect of how humans go about their lives and spend their day to day, how every passing moment has so much impact and yet people tend to not take notice of it until it's too late, how some people go their whole lives living in a blur and not understanding anything around them, these things and more she loves to discuss and probe into as she tries to understand better her own situation and how important it is to cherish what little time she has left.
Natalie Barbs likes most animals, however her favorite animal is the Shoebill, she is fond of how fierce and scary it can look from the front and yet from any other angle they tend to look rather goofy and ignoring their appearance, they are friendly to humans they know. She also likes all things sweet and thinks that nature is beautiful even if at times it's very cruel. She has an interest in architecture due to her mother's line of work and likes to draw buildings as one of her hobbies. She also enjoys baking with her father when he's available to do so. She dislikes money and thinks that greed is something that causes people to stray further from their ability to understand others. She finds people who are overly depending on others to be unlikeable as well, although she considers that may just be because she herself is so heavily dependent on her parents at such a young age even if she wishes she could accomplish more on her own.
Natalie Barbs has a very patient and understanding personality, she's heavily compassionate and yet isn't afraid to judge someone who is in the wrong and let them know in the hopes that they will improve themselves. She hardly acts her physical age and treats every quiet moment as if something that should be treasured. She's a very good listener but also likes to speak her own opinion regarding matters. She has her own will and is not afraid to say no when she disagrees with something and is not willing to simply be ordered around or used by others.
Natalie Barbs is an 11 year old girl in appearance, her height is 4 feet 5 inches. She has long straight brown hair that spills barely past her shoulders and is cut short in the front. She has soft hazel brown eyes and her chest is underdeveloped and small. Her hips are thin and her legs are rather thin as well as she still has the body is still prepubescent. She is wearing a long sleeve white shirt, blue shorts, and white sandals.
Natalie Barbs 's mother is a civil engineer and her father is a baker. She has a sweet tooth due her father always offering her sweets that he himself personally baked and her mother taught her how to read blueprints and design structures, leading to her fascination with how things are built and function.
