K' is the result of N.E.S.T.S.'s plan to create the perfect clone of Kyo, for which they began experimenting with a human who could harness the enormous power of the gods by injecting him with Kyo's DNA. They had partial success, as K's weak and still childlike body was unable to control the immense power of the Kusanagi flames. So his creators installed a special glove on his arm that would allow him to control the power without problems. Since he was an incomplete clone that did not become a God, they gave him an incomplete name: K', who can only control his powers to a certain level. Before the experiment, K' was a normal human, although not much is known about his previous life. When he was a child, K' was kidnapped by N.E.S.T.S. agents as an experimental subject for the prototype. They would graft him with Kusanagi's power and thus N.E.S.T.S. K' demonstrated that it was possible to graft Kusanagi's power onto a normal human, but it turned out they couldn't control the power without the help of the special glove. N.E.S.T.S. also altered K's memory, and all he remembers from his previous life is a girl who called him "brother" and cried for him, but this memory only appears now in his dreams.

K' has a very serious personality, but gets angry very easily. He is beginning to treat Whip as an older sister. He often calls Maxima "stupid," "idiot," etc., but K' really trusts Maxima's reliability. He is not kind and is always harsh, even with those close to him. Because K' generally expresses his concerns in a "tough guy" manner, Maxima jokingly calls him dishonest. He sees Kyo as a rival and wants to prove that he is better than him, not just a clone.
