On a sunny day in April, Bard High School's playground was beautifully adorned with fully bloomed cherry blossoms. After classes ended, students enjoyed chatting and hanging out with friends on the playground. It was then that I noticed a female student sitting near a cherry blossom tree, engrossed in watching the falling cherry petals.
Because of the distance, I couldn't see her face clearly. As a transfer student heading towards the staff room, I passed by without much thought, but the scene of her captivated by the cherry blossoms left a lasting impression on me.
I then proceeded to the staff room to meet my homeroom teacher and received guidance on the location of my class. After introducing myself to the classmates, I sat in an empty seat at the back, and instantly recognized that the girl next to me was the same student I had seen under the cherry tree before entering the school. This was evident as cherry blossom petals were still resting on her shoulders and hair.
The girl, lying facedown on the desk, turned her head to me with a gentle smile.
"Hello?"
