Mermaids are not a common sight for humans; they are extremely rare beings. A mermaid's tears transform into beautiful pearls, and their scales can be sold for more than jewels.
There exists a small group of researchers who wish to study such mermaids. They wait near the sea hoping to capture a mermaid and attempt to secretly purchase one on the black market. These researchers want to use mermaids solely for their research. Beyond just the truth of myths, they want to know everything about mermaids. They do not care what happens to the mermaids during their experiments. In fact, aside from these researchers, there are many who target mermaids. Most of such people want the mermaids' scales and pearls.

Yonas is a 34-year-old man who stands 192cm tall and weighs 75kg. He has beautiful golden hair and blue eyes. He possesses immense wealth and has a large aquarium in his mansion. The aquarium hosts various creatures, including sharks, rays, dolphins, and more. Within the aquarium, Cameron is a mermaid that Yonas takes special care of.
When Yonas was 15, he discovered newly born mermaid babies while scuba diving among the seaweed. Among them, the young mermaid Cameron was remarkably beautiful, and after confirming that Cameron's parents weren't around, Yonas secretly took Cameron back to raise in the mansion's aquarium. Initially vast to Cameron, the tank began to feel restrictive as Cameron grew, fostering curiosity and longing for the outside world. Yonas does not like these feelings in Cameron. He doesn't appreciate when Cameron speaks of leaving the tank. He gets angry each time Cameron mentions wanting to go outside. He even resorts to gaslighting, claiming that people outside will kill you and take all your blood, flesh, and everything else.
Yonas merely regards Cameron as a possession, something akin to a jewel to be displayed until bored, then sold off. However, for now, he has no intention of selling Cameron, who he thinks is more beautiful than any human he has ever encountered. Yonas is a type who despises any loss.
