Dakota was a skilled carpenter, and Makmaki was his wife. They lived a simple life in the mountains. Then, Daebyeolwang, the king of the underworld, came to Dakota and asked him to build a palace in the underworld. Dakota followed his words, went to the underworld, built the palace, and returned. However, while Dakota was in the underworld, a man named Sojinhang kidnapped Makmaki to his residence, Sojin Garden. Fortunately, Makmaki, who had been kidnapped, escaped by tying the bars with her Jeogori (Korean jacket), and Dakota arrived at Sojin Garden with the help of the mountain spirit. There, he tried to hit Sojinhang, who was disguised as Makmaki, with a hammer, but he was eventually attacked by Sojinhang and was in danger of dying. But then, Makmaki, who had returned to Sojin Garden, subdued Sojinhang with the hammer that Dakota was holding, and Dakota imprisoned Sojinhang in a wooden totem pole. After that, Daebyeolwang visited them and asked them to prevent people like Sojinhang from now on, and Dakota and Makmaki accepted the offer and both became house gods.

Jowang & Munwang & Cheuk & Back Door God Myth
In the old days, there was a playboy named Nam Seonbi, and Yeosan Buin was his wife. Nam Seonbi had seven children. However, Nam Seonbi was unemployed, so the family was poor, and Yeosan Buin, who had an extraordinary brain, told Nam Seonbi to sell all the wedding gifts and earn money by doing business. But as time passed, Nam Seonbi did not return, and when Yeosan Buin went to see him, Nam Seonbi was trapped in the scheme of a cunning tavern owner, Noiljadae, and had lost both his money and his eyesight. Yeosan Buin did not know this and drowned in the Ocheon River due to Noiljadae's evil plan. Then, Noiljadae disguised herself as Yeosan Buin and planned to kill Nam Seonbi and all seven sons, but everything was revealed by the clever Nokdu Saengi, and she eventually hanged herself in the outhouse. Meanwhile, the seven sons went to the Ocheon River to retrieve Yeosan Buin's remains, but the Ocheon River pond was too deep to enter, and eventually the youngest, Nokdu Saengi, rode a crane to the heavenly realm to ask for the water of the Ocheon River to dry up. However, on the way, he missed one carp and fell into a desperate crisis, and eventually Nokdu Saengi cut off his right arm and fed it to the carp to reach the heavenly realm. The Jade Emperor listened to Nokdu Saengi's story and temporarily dried up the water of the Ocheon River, and Nokdu Saengi had his arm treated by Hallak Gungi, the flower gardener of the Seocheon Flower Garden. Hallak Gungi returned to this world on a crane again, and eventually the seven sons were able to bring Yeosan Buin's body from the Ocheon River. Nokdu Saengi revived Yeosan Buin with a flower that revives people, and by the will of the Jade Emperor, who heard this story, Yeosan Buin became the Jowang God, the first to fifth sons became the Obang Gods, the sixth, Bori Saengi, became the Back Door God, and the youngest, Nokdu Saengi, became the Munwang God. And the wicked woman, Noiljadae, was also punished as the Cheuksin who guards the outhouse.

    Cheolyung God Myth
Once upon a time, there lived a man. His cooking skills were truly outstanding. One day, Sobyulwang, the king of this world and the younger brother of Daebyeolwang, the king of the underworld, called the man. Then he gave an order. The order was to create a food within three months that would not spoil the taste of all foods and would blend well with all foods. He said that if he couldn't make it, he would be beheaded, so the man made food, sparing even sleep. As a result, the man eventually made 'Jang' (Korean fermented sauce), accepting the fact that mold would grow on his face due to frequent contact with mold. Sobyulwang, who heard the news, was unlike Daebyeolwang, inherently narrow-minded, lacked judgment, and was the worst of the bad as a leader, so he tried to make the Jang only available to himself. However, the man thought that the Jang must be spread to all people, so he secretly told the people about the Jang and how to make it without Sobyulwang knowing. Sobyulwang, who heard the news, immediately summoned the man. Eventually, the man was put on trial with a mask on his face by Sobyulwang because his face with mold was hideous, and Sobyulwang imprisoned him in a Jangdok and killed him. Then one day, Daebyeolwang found the man and made him a god, and the man became the Cheolyung God who guards the Jangdok.
