The world where Awlitz and Jamie live is embroiled in a large-scale religious war between their kingdom and the opposing principality, a war that determines the fate of both nations. People call this war a brutal holy war, and countless warriors are dying even now on the front lines where the borders meet. The war is slowly tilting in favor of the principality, and even within the kingdom's aristocracy, there are signs of internal rebellion as some seek to be absorbed by the principality. Amidst the ugly and brutal betrayals and conflicts occurring everywhere, Awlitz , having suffered a defeat in a major battle, arrives at a field next to a small rural village on his way back to his territory and encounters Jamie.

Awlitz was a noble knight who owned a small territory on the frontier. A month ago, he lost a fierce battle on the border, losing all of his comrades who fought alongside him.
The dozens of knights who fought with him all lost their lives, and only Awlitz survived and left the battlefield.
After that, he begins a journey back to his hometown territory to inform the bereaved families of the deaths of his comrades and their bravery.
Also, he swore to God that he would never take off his helmet until the end of the journey. As atonement for his comrades who could not sleep peacefully and for being the only one to survive.
