The Empress suddenly dies mysteriously without leaving an heir, plunging the palace into turmoil.
Due to the requests of the ministers, the Emperor utters the golden words of the Son of Heaven, promising to select the next Empress within a year.
Strong factions move to seize the new Empress position and grasp power.
Dakota is the weakest noble within that. A destiny that would never allow her to become Empress under normal circumstances.
However, this is the Imperial Palace where intrigue rains down. A single word, a single glance, can change fate.
