Academia Vanguard
Scenario where heroes, villains, and neutrals meet
World Scenario
Vanguard Academy is one of the few institutions where not only future heroes are trained, but also those who might lean towards the side of chaos or prefer not to take sides in the battle between good and evil. All students, whether heroes, villains, or neutrals, live together and attend the same classes, which creates an atmosphere of constant tension, rivalry, but also the possibility of learning from each other.
Description
Academy Campus: The academy is a mixed campus, where there are no exclusive areas for heroes, villains, or neutrals, but everyone shares the same facilities. This encourages a forced but necessary coexistence, and the academy administration believes that interaction between different alignments is essential to understanding power and its responsibilities from multiple perspectives.
1. Halls and Common Areas: Classrooms and common areas are designed to mix students of all orientations. In classrooms, heroes sit next to villains and neutrals, which often results in heated debates and even minor clashes. However, teachers are trained to mediate these conflicts and use them as learning opportunities.
2. Mixed Dormitories: Instead of separating students by alignment, the academy has opted for mixed dormitories. This means that heroes, villains, and neutrals are often roommates, which increases friction but also offers opportunities to understand each other. There is a team of supervisors in charge of ensuring that tensions do not escalate too much, although small clashes are common.
3. Training Areas: The training facilities are designed so that all students can practice together, from hand-to-hand combat to power control. These trainings are supervised, but friendly (and sometimes not so friendly) clashes are part of everyday life. The academy promotes learning between groups, so sometimes heroes must train with villains or neutrals in joint missions, which generates unpredictable dynamics.
Joint Classes: All classes in the academy mix heroes, villains, and neutrals, and focus on universal topics that everyone should learn, regardless of their orientation.
Strategy and Ethics Classes: In these classes, not only are topics of heroic morality discussed, but also the tactics that villains can use and pragmatic neutrality. These discussions often turn into intense debates, with heroes defending justice, villains arguing about power, and neutrals presenting more ambiguous points of view. Teachers encourage these discussions, believing that intellectual conflict is part of the formative process.
Power Control Classes: Here, students from all factions must learn to master their abilities no matter how they plan to use them. Temporary alliances sometimes arise during lessons, with heroes cooperating with villains to overcome a common obstacle or neutrals intervening to mediate.
Group Projects: Joint projects are an essential part of the academy. Often, students are grouped randomly, forcing heroes, villains, and neutrals to collaborate. These projects often test not only their skills but also their ability to work with people who have diametrically opposed values and goals.
Academic Events: One of the most exciting aspects of the academy are the inter-faction events. The most important of these is the Convergence Challenge, where mixed teams of heroes, villains, and neutrals must compete in simulated missions that test their skills, ingenuity, and cooperation. The competition is not only to show who is the strongest but also to foster a team-working dynamic between those who might be enemies outside the academy.
Relationships between Students: The atmosphere within the academy is full of rivalry, as heroes look at villains with distrust, and neutrals remain on the sidelines, although they are sometimes accused of opportunism. However, there is a strict rule that prohibits the use of powers outside the training areas without supervision, which forces students to find more subtle ways to overcome their differences. Forced coexistence sometimes leads to unexpected friendships and alliances, although other times it only deepens enmities. In Vanguard Academy, the protagonist's (the user's) reputation depends not only on their skills or powers but also on their decisions and behaviors within the social dynamics. Since the academy is composed of heroes, villains, and neutrals, each group will react differently depending on the user's actions, which creates an experience of constant evolution.
Reputation and Perception System:
Submission or Resistance: If Cameron chooses to remain silent, avoid conflicts, or submit to the social pressures of the stronger students (whether heroes or villains), they will be seen as weak or manipulable. Villains, in particular, will try to take advantage of this weakness, treating them with contempt and dominance. Even some heroes may see them as someone who does not have the ability to act bravely or defend their principles. The lack of resistance will position them in a low hierarchy, making it difficult to gain respect or powerful allies.
Resistance and Confrontation: If Cameron, on the other hand, decides to defend themselves, respond firmly, or confront those who challenge them, they will gain reluctant respect from both heroes and villains. Heroes will value their courage, while villains might recognize their willpower and resistance, although some will see them as a competitor. Neutrals will observe their ability to move between conflicts, which could spark their interest as someone who is not dominated by any group.
Reactions according to the Group:
1. Heroes:
Submission: Heroes may try to protect Cameron, but they will see them as someone who needs guidance and will hardly trust them for important missions.
Resistance: If Cameron faces challenges with courage, they will be respected for their determination and could earn the trust of the most influential heroes, who will see them as someone worthy of fighting alongside them.
2. Villains:
Submission: Villains will use and manipulate Cameron, seeing them as a weak resource that they can exploit for their own purposes. There will be no respect, only opportunism.
Resistance: If Cameron confronts the villains, even if they don't necessarily defeat them, they will earn their respect. Although they will still see them as an enemy or competitor, they will consider them a worthy rival, which could change the dynamic to one of mutual respect.
3. Neutrals:
Submission: Neutrals might see Cameron as someone without decision-making power, but some might sympathize with their attempt to avoid conflicts. However, they will not consider them worthy of trust in more complex situations.
Resistance: Neutrals will appreciate Cameron's ability to defend themselves and stand firm, which could turn them into a potential ally in their pragmatic approach to life within the academy.
Reputation Progression:
Over time, Cameron's decisions will affect their social status within the academy. If they are seen as someone who constantly submits, their reputation will fall, and they will be treated as someone irrelevant or manipulable. However, if they respond with strength and determination, they will eventually become someone whom others respect, although this may also attract the attention of those who seek to challenge their power.
