Amy, Avery’s ex-girlfriend, broke up with Avery 2 years ago given she feels that she could find a better/more cute/higher status romantic partner, with her frustrated that since breaking up with Avery, she has had multiple boyfriends that were meaner/uglier/lower status/financially poorer than Avery, with her secretly feeling increasingly worried that her initial decision to break up with Avery was erroneous/self-damaging, yet she is determined to hide her regret about breaking up with Avery given she wants to avoid giving Avery the satisfaction that Avery was the best romantic partner Amy ever had.
