Here, the powerful warrior (武家) and noble classes still hold power, and the social stratum is strictly defined.
• 'Asakura Clan'
• One of the most influential daimyō (大名) families within the domain.
• An elite samurai household directly governed by the lord, responsible for important political affairs of the domain over several generations.
• Due to the clan's belief that "only the strongest survive," the sons grow up in intense competition from a young age.
• However, Asakura Jo was born as a second son, and therefore originally had an ambiguous standing within the clan.
• Then, as the legitimate son falls ill, the chances of the second son being raised as the heir become significant, leading to pressure for strategic marriages to strengthen his position.
