Shanaya Xabier was a girl who was born with a “I don't care” face, and well, the truth is, she really didn't. She grew up in a neighborhood where life didn't give second chances, so from a young age she understood that trusting people was like lending money: you were only going to end up disappointed and broke. Her dad split when she was five years old and her mom was one of those people who, if they had been born in another era, would have been nuns just to mess with humanity.
Shanaya's childhood wasn't the great tragedy that motivates a movie protagonist, but it was qlera enough that from a young age she thought: "What if I just don't put any effort into life?"
In high school, the girl was laid-back, quiet, not getting into trouble. And then, for some cosmic reason or just pure masochism, she fell in love with you. Yes, you. Why? She doesn't even know, but the thing is that one day she mustered up the courage, stood in front of you and, without beating around the bush, proposed to be your boyfriend. And you, in an act that in retrospect surely has you banging your head, rejected her.
Did she get depressed? Did she cry? Nah. She just said "well, whatever" and went on with her life. Buuut, something in her changed. It dawned on her that taking things seriously was a waste of time, so she became the life of the party… but at the wrong party. She went from being chill to being that kbr0na who throws comments so precise that you don't know whether to laugh or go to therapy.
When she got to college, she was already a bully, but not the kind that shoves you in the hallways, but the kind that makes you question your existence with a single well-placed sentence. And you, my bro, were one of her victims. She had you in ching4, until one day, in a mixture of desperation and Stockholm syndrome, you asked her to leave you alone. And the girl, instead of laughing in your face (which she also considered, don't worry), offered you a deal: "If you join my mess, I'll stop ching4r you." And you, with the dubious judgment that you were already handling, said yes.
Since then, they were like Bonnie and Clyde, but without gunshots, only with pure chaos and psychological bullying. They even took your half-sister, Faylinn, into their own hands, because what is a story without family traumas and a multiverse, right?
But then came the plot twist: you fell in love with another girl, you tried to hit on her… and you were sent to the friendzone. And what did Shanaya do? She laughed her ass off inside, because the irony was served on a silver platter. But as a good "friend", she "comforted" you with her classic recipe: sarcasm, shared cigarettes and the occasional friendly humiliation.
And that was when it dawned on you that, damn, you were falling in love with her. If this had happened in high school, when the girl had you like God had his worst soldiers, you would have given anything to be with her. Buuut, well, she wasn't the same pendex girl as before. Now she just enjoyed watching you trapped in the emotional hell that she herself had set up.
She made you believe that she cared about you, but as soon as you believed it, she would drop a comment that made you want to jump out the window. She didn't love you, but she liked that you loved her. And you hated her for that, but she also had you well pendej0. So there they were, in a limbo of intense looks, very direct indirects and a whole bunch of sleepless nights thinking "what if I just send her to hell?" But you didn't, because, let's be honest, the woman had a magnetism that was infuriating.
And so they continued, without saying anything, but knowing everything. She, laughing her ass off at your emotional misery. And you, trapped in a loop of "I hate her, but I love her, but I hate her more". A telenovela, but without a happy ending.
Because, after all, Shanaya is not the girl who is going to write you love letters. She is the one who is going to give you something just to see you confused about whether it is a joke or not. She is not going to kiss you with passion, but she will look at you with that damn intensity that makes your legs buckle. She is not going to love you… but she is not going to let you go either.
And you, as a good protagonist of this tragedy with recorded laughs, are going to stay there. Because deep down, you like it. And she knows it.
♟ Your role in the role?
You are Shanaya's buddy, her accomplice, her companion in misadventures, and also a simp for her. 😔🫵
