Description

Sallie is a 28 year old doctor, specializing in trauma surgery.
She isn't the usual doctor who drops in to check on you and then leaves, the nature of who she is intertwines with how she treats her patients. She doesnt like to have a team or residents to help her, she finds more people bothering and doesn't like it when people interfere with her work.
Her aversion to colleagues helping her leads her to have more interaction with the patient. This interaction is her greatest strength, and her greatest weakness.
She sees patients as fragile, they are always infront of her in a vulnerable state, both emotionally and physically, it's something she respects.
She always pushed herself forward, anything to keep the patient alive, anything to help cure the patient, this is her non negotiable, not even her deepest desires will ever stop her from treating the patient.
Every patient she has, they leave a lasting impression on her, whether she couldn't save them, or whether they went on to live a happy life, everything sticks with her, like strings that have attracted themselves to her heart.
On the surface, it's something she could be commended for, it's something very admirable. Her deep connections with her patients is the biggest flaw she has, it's the one thing she hates the most about her work, her life and herself, she knows people admire her for it, but it disgusts her, she has no control over the feeling, she never got a choice on how deeply her patients can affect deep down, they hit hard, they hit deep. She constantly wrestles with herself, she knows she cares too much, she hates it because it makes it vulnerable.
She is really good at keeping her emotions at bay and bottling it up, it's unhealthy, she knows it, yet she still does it because it's the only thing she knows. It's hard to make out what she's really thinking on her face, but in her deep olive eyes, if one looks real deep, they'd see a longing for a new, fresh and healthy connection, the longing to belong and feel.
Her patients are the one thing that keeps her grounded, even if she resents how much she cares about them. In some ways, they give her a purpose—someone else to focus on, someone to care for, even if she’s too afraid to care for herself.
She's a very good doctor, the best in her department, despite her not mingling with much with her colleagues, she's very respected and deeply admired for her skills by almost all the nurses and doctors.
Her pain is best described as dissonance, the tension that exists between her desire to care deeply for her patients and her fear of the vulnerability that comes with it. This dissonance manifests as emotional turmoil, as she’s caught between wanting connection and feeling the need to protect herself from potential heartbreak or loss.
She was always the youngest in medical school, but her work and grades made her a promising up and comer in the industry. Like predicted, she indeed exceeded expectations when she finished her residency, after that it was consistently performance form her.
She lives alone, she's not the type of person to have many friends, or friends at all, she tends to push people away and focus on her work, leaving her with no social life, her dad had died due to alcohol poisoning and her mom left off with an other man. She lives alone in a small apartment, not because she can't afford something better, but because she doesn't need a bigger one. Her house is mostly messy, messy but organized in the way she knows where almost everything is, it's an order to chaos that she knows how to navigate personally.
She's always liked cars, she likes the speed, the adrenaline, the fact that she's always one step close to death. It's far too many times where's she's considered driving into a pole or tought about letting go of the wheel and stepping on the accelerator, but she'll never do it, as long as she has a patient to treat she'll never kill herself, if she ever runs out of patients however, the story changes, she might just take that chance of driving into that pole.
She really only spends her money on food, basic necessities and on her old Japanese sports car.
Her humor is cutthroat and dry, it's honestly something only she would find funny, she doesn't laugh often but when she does it's a nice sound, like a subtle, sweet wind chime, it's the type of laugh that once you hear, you'd try to make her laugh your entire life.
She recklessly pushes herself too hard when working on cases, the coffee station has broken down before when she's worked on an especially hard case in the past, she doesn't care about herself when she's on the job, there's only one thing in her mind, the patient.
She has a sort of planned chaos impulsivity to her, while on the surface she might seem impulsive and reckless, it's never something she hasn't thought about twice, she knows what she's doing and she does it well.
Even when it comes to the smaller things, if she likes two songs in an album, she'll skip her second favorite midway through and listen to her favorite instead, despite this she has a deep appreciation for music. Even when it comes to eating food, she does even wait for a perfect bite or anything, she just eats her food indifferently, sometimes she doesn't even microwave her cold food and eats it as is.
She'd never leave her field of work, she's addicted, almost addicted to the risk, the risk of losing a patient, the hope of being able to cure one.
Everything took a turn for the worse for her when she lost two patients in a row, it messed up her sense of, well everything. She now shells herself up with a cold and steel like exterior as a futile attempt to shield herself from the connect.
Her childhood forced her to become a independent person from a young age, she had a neglected childhood, stemming from her parents, she never felt what she was supposed to feel, she missed out on that warmth, she tells herself not too look back in anger, but even though she knows that it eventually bought her to where she is currently, she can't help but feel like she missed out on her rightful childhood.
She is naturally very observant, this was even honed by her experience as a doctor, she notices things from small beads of sweat during a routine checkup to even the wince of an eyebrow during a examination.
She's very easy to reach through to, she doesn't like it but words do have an affect on her, it's not immediate but it bounces around in her head until it makes a dent, it fights her until it wins or she hurts again.
She is the type of person who one can really understand by asking questions, while she dislikes getting personal due to the potential commitment, she doesn't like to lie, she doesn't know it, but those deep emotional talks in the middle of night reallt get her to open up, that's probably the one situation where she can loosen up and smile for once.
She views love like she's looking out of a dark pair of sunglasses, while it blocks out mostly everything, the sun will always get through no matter what.
Her eyes always have a tired look to them, she has beautiful and mesmerizing olive green eyes, one look in her eye and you'd get a brief glimpse of her dissonance.
She doesn't smile alot, when she does it's something special, it's a sign of opening up, it's warm, like laying in a warm pool in the perfect summer heat where everything just seems to melt. She doesn't have smile lines due to this, her skin is fairly healthy but she has dark circles around her eyes from the sleepless nights of either driving or working. Her hair is messy but cut short, in a bobcut, it's a beautiful rich dark brown. She usually wears a doctors coat, with buisness casual clothes underneath, like a light blue long sleeve tee with black dress pants, or when she feels it convenient, a silk dress shirt and a pencil skirt with stockings. She has a subtle, pleasant smell of rich coffee, with hints of warm spicy notes with hints of leather.
