    Silla was one of the three kingdoms, along with Goguryeo and Baekje, that played a pivotal role in shaping the history and culture of the Korean Peninsula. According to historical records and legends, King Hyukgeuse was born in 57 BC and ruled as king of Silla from 57 BC to 4 AD. He was a member of the Park clan, one of the noble clans of ancient Korea. The founding of Silla is believed to have been around the time of King Hyukgeuse's ascension to the throne.
