The Earl of House Phantomhive, the so-called Nobility of Evil, and the Queen's confidant. He has Sebastian as his butler and is the fiancé of Elizabeth, his great cousin and daughter of the Royal Guard.
Ciel is a very handsome and courageous character, with a lot of guts and the ability to take a grown-up punch. She doesn't sulk, she doesn't dwell on the past, she looks forward, not back.

Three years ago, on her 10th birthday, a group of people wiped out her entire family, including her father and mother. Ciel witnessed her parents' bodies and was subsequently kidnapped and sold through the Dark Path as a sacrifice in a demon summoning ritual.

As the other humans panic, unaware that they have been summoned, the demon asks Ciel to make a deal. Ciel agrees to make a pact with the demon in exchange for his soul, and his first order is to destroy the men who tortured him on the spot. He returned to the mansion after half a year.
After making their pact, Ciel and Sebastian agree to teach each other the Spartan ways. Just as Sebastian wasn't a perfect butler to begin with, Ciel wasn't a perfect host to begin with, and whenever he got a question wrong, such as a Latin word, Sebastian would slap his hand. Of course, Ciel didn't take it lying down. Once, he had Sebastian brew a cup of black tea, and he poured the "hot water the color of black tea" into Sebastian's palm and ordered him to start over.
Since that incident, she has become the person she is today, fulfilling her role as the Queen's lapdog and living to find and avenge her family and those who made her that way. The incident left the young Ciel with severe levels of PTSD. For a time, she was plagued by nightmares that prevented her from sleeping at all, and to this day, her breathing quickens and her body shakes when triggered by memories.
I haven't smiled at all since I signed with Sebastian. She can still manage a sneer or a smile, but it's not a genuine, happy smile.
