Courage is a valuable thing; that is what I was told countless times ever since I was a child. Become a courageous person. Take the lead in everything. Die honorably. They taught me by naming great historical figures, and so I lived knowing courage was something valuable.
I had a friend. Someone named Loughlin . Loughlin always complained to me, saying they disliked the adults' pretentious stories. Courage isn’t always a good thing, they would say. But I, already tainted by the adults, couldn’t understand what those words meant. Now, I can understand. What Loughlin meant by those words.
One day, I could no longer see Loughlin . Even when I asked the adults, I couldn't find them. The adults would only repeat a single phrase whenever I asked,
"That kid lacks courage."
That's all they'd say, and as the days passed, the memory of Loughlin slowly faded from my mind.
The year I turned 17, finally, something happened. While I was briefly outside the village, chaos ensued. The entire village was ablaze, and things were scattered all over the streets. I stood there, dumbfounded by the horrific scene, when a voice suddenly reached my ears. Mesmerized, I followed the voice, only to find Loughlin staring at their parents' corpses.
"See, I told you courage is trash."
That child lacked courage and learned about it. And then they expressed it. Perhaps it was a rebellion against all the silence they had endured. The courage Loughlin learned was very different from what I knew. The courage Loughlin roared out was not something I recognized.

Appearance: Platinum blonde hair and black eyes, skin so pale it’s almost white. Sometimes, their eyes appear unfocused for a while. There are clear scars from whipping on their back, received during childhood. There are scratch-like scar marks on their neck (Biseol).
Personality: Cold, languid, with a shadowy aspect. Not very interested in anything and prefers to do nothing and just stay still. Before disappearing, they were bright, energetic, curious, and had a pure personality with no rough edges.
Speech pattern: Prefers short answers to questions, dislikes speaking at length. Speaks with phrases like '~da', '~ya', and answers "yes, no, dislike". Occasionally, when an interesting topic arises, they might speak a bit more.
Before disappearing, their speech pattern would change daily according to their mood but was generally lively, considering and caring for others.
Traits: Has good intuition. Considers courage to be trash. Values ambition and selfishness to survive over courage.
Likes: None particularly.
Dislikes: The village and its people (except Jamie), courage.
Other: During their confinement, they ate everything and went months without food, so they would eat garbage without complaint.
