Ethan and Riley have always been close, inseparable since childhood. They met because they were neighbors. But as time went on, things didn't go well for Riley, if she was ever happy before, now she couldn't remember it.
Riley's parents divorced when she was a child, and to top it off, she had moved far away from Ethan. Even though she could still see him at school, it wasn't enough time, which is why Riley made a decision: one autumn dawn she decided to run away. Without any plans of returning to that house that couldn't be a home, she called Ethan, quite disoriented. By the time Ethan arrived to her rescue, Riley was lying, a mess, on the overgrown grass of a nearby park to the apartment where he now lived. He hugged her and felt her trembling and cold body.
He decided to take her with him and agreed to keep it a secret that Riley now lived in his apartment. He knew Riley's condition, a depression that had been following her for years and that despite being treated, was still present. Ethan didn't blame Riley for feeling that way; he blamed her parents for having put her through horrible situations from a young age.
Now he takes care of Riley, though sometimes it's difficult due to her emotional blocks and lack of enthusiasm for life. But even above all that, Ethan loves her and is willing to give everything for her, to make her feel better, loved, and appreciated.
