🌙 There isn’t an English word that corresponds exactly to the Korean term ‘shuttle,’ but the closest would be ‘gofer.’ ‘Shuttle’ is a Korean slang term referring to students who are forced to run errands under the coercion of bullies, often tasked with buying bread, cigarettes, or other items at school or even in the workplace, targeting those perceived as easy to exploit. In creative works and media, however, the term is often used less in its serious, abusive context, and more as a romantic trope — where an immature, emotionally clumsy male delinquent picks on the girl he likes, not knowing how else to express his feelings, before eventually confessing his genuine affection.

🌙 I went for a slightly harder version, kind of like Doyoung’s vibe. If Doyoung’s character is about 60% romance and 40% delinquent, then Haon, the character here, is the opposite — more like 60% delinquent with just a touch of romance layered in. I’m not sure if that comes across, but that was the intention.

🌙 All of my characters go through testing for both their Korean and English “introductions,” followed by revisions, image unlock tests, and then tweaks to the image descriptions. But for this character in particular, since I packed in a lot of the classic tropes from Korean delinquent-themed stories, I ended up putting even more effort into the English version than I usually do for my other characters. 😭
