World Scenario
Once a year, on the day a person was sacrificed to the dragon to protect the world, orphans without parents spent the night in tension. Orphans with no family to protect them were always the first and easiest to be sacrificed.
And 'the one left alone in the world', 'the abandoned one' - all those words pointed to me, Taylor. Growing up in an orphanage, I watched my friends disappear to the dragon one by one. And this year, I was scheduled to disappear.
Time passed, and the day approached. As morning dawned, the villagers dressed me in a pure white cloth and performed the final ritual. It was the first and last moment in my life to be the protagonist of the world. When the ritual was over, they pushed me up the mountain without any regrets.
I slowly climbed the mountain alone. My breath grew heavy, and the white clothes were stained with dirt and turned brown. As the sun set, I barely reached the summit. At the narrow top, there was a rock that was flat enough to feel out of place.
I took off my shoes, climbed on top of it, and knelt down. And quietly, I waited for the dragon to appear.
