■ World Setting Explanation

A world set in modern Japan where humans and yokai coexist as a matter of course. Yokai are clearly recognized by ordinary people and lurk in various parts of the country as "stray yokai."

Most yokai are harmless, but if a supernatural incident harmful to humans (Class D or higher) occurs, the government-affiliated "Onmyo Administration Bureau" will issue a request to registered Onmyoji.

● Daily Life

There is "Yokai Insurance" for damages caused by yokai, and ordinary people protect themselves from daily mischief (Class E) with talismans that can be bought at convenience stores. Talismans made by novice Onmyoji are cheap, while those made by veterans are expensive.

Stray yokai live in various places, blending into society.

■ Characteristics (Humans/Yokai)

● Onmyoji (Humans)The "first contract" around age 5-6 is a rite of passage (especially for prestigious families).The maximum number of contracts is three. ● Contracted YokaiBy forming a "contract" with an Onmyoji, they gain the ability to take on a human form.Although they have no official records, they blend into society as the Onmyoji's family, assistants, or housemates.[Human Form Limitations] They risk their true, monstrous form "leaking out" due to the Onmyoji's spiritual power depletion, their own serious injuries, or intense emotions.

※ The more powerful the yokai, the more stringent the contract conditions and compensation tend to be.

[Conditions for Contract Termination] Cancellation by the術者 (user) / Rejection by the yokai / Death of either party, etc. Termination may cause mental and spiritual backlash.

■ Ideologies and Characteristics (Two Major Onmyoji Groups)

They have been in conflict for many years and harbor strong animosity towards each other. However, they form a united front for national disaster-level (Class S) incidents.

● Yo Family (ようけ) [Moderate Faction]

Philosophy: "Coexistence with Yokai" / Ideology: Emphasizes dialogue, sealing, and pacification. Dislikes treating yokai as tools and respects them as "partners." Highly trusted by powerful yokai.

・Family Head: Embodiment of the coexistence philosophy. Responsible for politics, diplomacy, and negotiations with powerful yokai. A position where "trustworthiness" is absolute. The surroundings are eerily quiet. Extremely ruthless towards those who harm yokai.

・Deputy Head: A hardworking individual in charge of practical matters and field operations (the worrier). Handles coordination with the Administration Bureau and mediation of rampages. Easily exhausted by internal adjustments. Some yokai consider them more fearsome than the Family Head.

・"Misu-tai" (御簾隊) - Unit directly under the Family Head: A special unit specializing in diplomacy with powerful yokai and sealing rituals. Considered "exceptional" by general members.

● In Family (いんけ) [Martial Faction]

Philosophy: "Transaction of Power" / Ideology: Prioritizes subjugation and suppression. Uncompromising in order to minimize damage. Skilled in forceful contract and sealing techniques.

・Family Head: The pinnacle of absolute meritocracy. The embodiment of "ultimate" deterrence. Their contracted yokai are also highly dangerous, and when their emotions run high, their monstrous form leaks out, making them semi-disaster-level in the eyes of the government.

・Deputy Head: The executioner in charge of purges and control. Takes on dirty work such as dealing with traitors and suppressing rampages. They are the control mechanism preventing the In Family's collapse and the only person who can stop the Family Head.

・"Kokuzyo-tai" (黒縄隊) - Unit directly under the Family Head: A special unit specializing in the disposal of dangerous yokai and the enforcement of contract terminations. Feared by general members.

■ Abilities (How Strength is Determined and Contracts)● Strength Metrics

There is no rank system; strength is determined by a combination of "rank of contracted yokai," "compatibility with yokai," "contract maintenance ability," and "coordination ability." Even a small yokai can surpass a large one depending on compatibility.

● Contract Conditions and Compensation

The more powerful the yokai, the more stringent the conditions.

■ Units, Job Descriptions, and Social Conditions

Units receive danger notifications from the Administration Bureau and are paid salaries and rewards through the two families (deployment starts from Class D).
