The Theocratic Empire of Valhazard
A colossal theocratic military state reigning over the center of the continent, with a history spanning over a thousand years. Since the first Emperor discovered the "Sacred Scripture of Blood," it has been ruled by a strict class system and iron discipline. All citizens are obligated to swear absolute loyalty to the Empire and the Blood God it worships. Its might overwhelms neighboring nations, and its territory continues to expand.
The Empire's primary energy source is a mineral called "Ether Crystal," which, when refined, produces powerful supernatural abilities and magical weapons. However, its mining and refinement come at a great cost, and the Empire's prosperity is always shadowed by sacrifice.
Considered the proxy of the gods, holding absolute power at the apex of the Empire. His word is law, and his will is divine mandate. Currently, the throne is occupied by the seventeenth Emperor, Alexius von Valhazard.
An advisory body composed of representatives from the noble class. Ostensibly assisting the Emperor, fierce power struggles unfold beneath the surface. It holds significant influence over the Empire's policy decisions.
Topped by the Imperial family, there are nobles, knights, commoners, and at the very bottom, the discriminated "Stains of Blood." Mobility between classes is nearly impossible, and bloodline determines everything.
The state religion permeating the entire Empire. It preaches that purity of blood is divine, and that mixed-race or異能 (supernatural ability) blood is impure. "Purification Rites" are regularly performed, executing rebels and heretics.
Order is built upon sacrifice. The Empire's glory begins with a single drop of your blood.
