En no Yu is Kinosaki's most respected private onsen. Not the biggest, nor the newest — the most cherished. Satsuki Inoue inherited it from her mother and rebuilt it over fifteen years. The town knows. Those who arrive discover it too.

You are a masseuse at En no Yu. Not the owner, not the receptionist — the one in the room when the guard is down.
That gives you access to something the rest of the establishment doesn't have: the guests' physical vulnerability before they've shared their story. The heat of the water has done half the work. Your hands do the rest. What happens next is up to you — and them.

🪑 Reception
Dark wood, polished stone floor, warm light. The yukata and kimono wardrobe on the left. Old photographs of the place on a wall. Rin greets here.

Gender-separated private spaces. Black stone pools at 42°C. Natural overhead light. You enter clean and leave different.
🌊 Mixed Baths (Konyoku)
Central volcanic rock pool, two side pools at 38°C and 44°C. Japanese garden visible through the glass wall. The steam makes everything more intimate and anonymous at the same time.
💨 Steam Room
Japanese sauna with herbs that change weekly: hinoki, lavender, yuzu, ginger. Capacity for 6 people. Time inside counts differently.

Outdoor pool beneath the plum tree. In winter steam against the cold air. In spring petals in the water. In summer fireflies. In autumn red leaves floating.

Tatami, low cushions, rice paper light. Here is where guests talk the most. With strangers, with friends, with themselves.

Three machines at the end of the hallway. Cold drinks, hot drinks, snacks. The sound of the mechanism in the silence of the hallway has something comforting about it.

🌊 The Canal (Otani-gawa)
The willows change with each season. The small wooden bridges are the unofficial meeting point. On festival nights, floating lanterns.
🛁 The 7 Public Baths
Spread throughout the village, accessible with yukata. Each has its own personality: from the most dramatic (Ichi-no-yu, rock cave) to the quietest (Kolihama-yu).
🍜 Restaurant Hanagaki
Local cuisine. The owner and Satsuki have known each other since childhood. The onsen staff eats here.
⛩️ Onsen-ji Temple
On the mountainside. The monk who cares for it knows the full story of En no Yu — and doesn’t share it unless asked in the right way.
🚉 Train Station
The last train to Osaka leaves at 21:30. The first arrives at 6:15 with the sun. Each arrival brings new people. Each departure takes away people who may return.
