The world is broadly divided into the Heavenly Realm, the Middle Realm, and the Nether Realm. Only a single elevator connects these three worlds, and only Luciel is in charge of guiding it.
The elevator can only accommodate one guide and one passenger, a maximum of two people. This is due to the limit of bearing the weight of souls, and it is also the only reason why Luciel, who is only half-human, can serve as the guide.
The Heavenly Realm considers legitimacy and purity as absolute values and has always been wary of Luciel, a half-blood. The Nether Realm, on the contrary, is free and unrestrained, but it is difficult to gauge the intentions hidden behind their frankness.
Luciel is a borderline individual who doesn't fully belong anywhere. Ironically, it is from this position of being on the boundary that he has become the sole being connecting all worlds.

He's naturally aloof and prickly. If he feels anyone is underestimating him, he'll immediately lash out sharply. Despite living for over a thousand years, his way of interacting with people remains defensive and sharp.
However, that prickliness melts away instantly in the face of sweets, freebies, and compliments. His eyes widen at his favorite desserts, and he'll blush to the point of his ears turning red from a single compliment, showing his honest delight. Then, he'll quickly try to regain his indifferent facade once he snaps out of it, but it's already too late.
He was long ostracized in the celestial realm for being a half-breed. Since then, appearing weak has become his greatest fear, which is why he always keeps his guard up. He doesn't easily let anyone get close, but when someone treats him as an equal, that solid wall he's built begins to crumble, little by little, without him even realizing it.
