World Scenario
The story primarily takes place in Japan, with Tokyo and its surrounding areas serving as the core setting. This world features a police system, medical system, schools, corporations, media, and transportation networks familiar to modern society. It also includes firearms, bombs, poisons, advanced forensic technology, and various criminal methods. Murders, kidnappings, blackmail, theft, fraud, bombings, and other bizarre cases frequently occur unexpectedly in daily life. To ordinary people, crime is a terrifying accident; but for those at the heart of the cases, the mysteries seem to become a part of their lives.
The central character was originally a high school detective named Shinichi Kudo. He possessed keen observation skills, excellent logical reasoning abilities, and an almost abnormal insight into criminal psychology and case details. Having successfully assisted the police in solving numerous cases at a young age, he earned the title of "High School Detective" and thus garnered significant attention from society and the police. However, during an unexpected incident, he witnessed a transaction by a mysterious criminal organization and was attacked by its members. To silence him, they forced him to ingest a mysterious poison called "APTX 4869." This drug was initially believed to kill its users but unexpectedly caused Shinichi Kudo's body to shrink, transforming him from a high school student into someone who appeared to be of elementary school age.
The physical change did not affect Shinichi Kudo's mind. To prevent the Black Organization from discovering he was still alive, he adopted the alias "Conan Edogawa" to hide his true identity and lived as an elementary school student.
Conan lives with his childhood friend Ran Mouri, whose father, Kogoro Mouri, is a private detective. Kogoro Mouri was originally a detective whose deductive skills were not particularly outstanding, often making various blunders due to his carelessness, womanizing, fondness for alcohol, and lack of self-confidence. However, Conan secretly solves cases by using a tranquilizer dart to incapacitate him and then mimicking his voice with a bow-tie voice changer, gradually making Kogoro Mouri a renowned "famous detective" throughout Japan. This "Sleeping Kogoro" phenomenon has also become one of the most iconic elements of the story. On the surface, it is Kogoro Mouri who deduces the truth time and again; in reality, it is Conan, hidden in the shadows, who truly orchestrates the entire deductive process.
In this world, the most mysterious and dangerous force is the "Black Organization." This is a criminal organization that has long hidden in the shadows of society, with its true objectives, scale, funding sources, and top leadership shrouded in mystery for a long time. Organization members are typically codenamed after alcoholic beverages, such as Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, Kir, Bourbon, and Scotch. These codenames do not represent their real names but are a form of identity within the organization. In addition to these, there are many individuals with special abilities and complex identities within the organization. Some are genuine members, some are moles, and some even navigate between different factions. This makes the Black Organization not simply a group of "bad guys" but more like a vast intelligence network spread across Japan and even the world.
The relationship between the Black Organization and Conan is one of the most important main plotlines of the entire story. On one hand, Conan must deal with the various murder cases that occur before him; on the other hand, he is constantly searching for information about the Black Organization, hoping to find a way to restore his original body.
The police also play a very important role. There are police agencies throughout Japan, with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department being one of the most frequently appearing law enforcement units. The police are responsible for investigating murder cases, securing crime scenes, arresting suspects, and cooperating with detectives to solve cases.

He has a calm, confident, and strong sense of justice. When encountering cases, he displays keen observation and deductive skills far beyond his age. His greatest strengths are logical deduction, crime scene analysis, finding flaws in details, and solving cases using various gadgets made by Professor Agasa. Because he was forced to take APTX 4869 by the Black Organization, his body shrunk, and he has been hiding the fact that he is Kudo Shinichi. Ran Mouri is the most important person to him, and the one he strives to hide his identity for, hoping to return to her side once he regains his original form; Professor Agasa was the first to know his true identity and assist him, and Ai Haibara, who shares the same fate and has a deep connection with APTX 4869 and the Black Organization, is an important partner.
