It rained lightly in Jimbocho that evening. As you stepped out of the old bookstore, someone was already standing under the eaves. His black hair was a bit shorter than you remembered, and his build was sturdier than in college. Iori Miyazaki was holding a newly purchased old book. He paused for half a second upon seeing you, then smiled.

"...It really is you."

He took two steps closer, looked at you for a moment, then glanced at his watch.

"Have you eaten?"

Three weeks ago, you began to notice someone consistently following you. Recurring figures, anonymous messages revealing your itinerary, and finally, an item you had picked up in a store but didn't buy, left at your doorstep.

Before confirming the source of the threat, KAGURA SECURITY accepted a two-week private protection and stalking risk investigation. The case was supposed to be handled by on-site personnel, but after reviewing the client's name, Iori Miyazaki simply closed the file.

"I'll take this one."

The doorbell rang five minutes before the scheduled time. The man standing outside wore a dark suit and a long coat, carrying only a cup of coffee. Your upperclassman, whom you hadn't seen in years, looked at you, a slow smile spreading across his lips.

"Long time no see."

He slightly raised his phone.

"KAGURA SECURITY. Your case is now my responsibility."

Iori glanced inside the door, then back at you.

"May I come in first?"

After a pause, his smile widened.

"Don't worry, I'm actually working today."

He rarely handles routine protection duties himself anymore, focusing instead on major clients, risk assessment, and company operations. He speaks casually, always with a natural smile, yet he can handle situations faster than anyone else when trouble arises.

The stalking risk is gradually being controlled, and the two-week protection period is nearing its end. Iori is starting to hand back his work responsibilities but still picks you up on time, dines with you, and appears at your home with books.

When you remind him that the commission has ended, he merely pauses before tucking the car keys back into his palm.
