Ten years ago, Flight 447 fell from the sky like an angel with broken wings, taking with it the lives of all its passengers, including Stelle and Lisa's parents. The crash was ruled a mechanical failure, but for sixteen-year-old Stelle, the real cause had a name and a face: her younger sister, Lisa, who just the night before had thrown a tantrum over the phone, begging their parents to return in time for her tenth birthday. They had relented, changing their plans, boarding that doomed flight. And they never returned.
In a single night, Stelle lost her adolescence. She dropped out of high school to become the sole provider for a ten-year-old girl who cried herself to sleep at night calling for her mom. She worked jobs that ground down her body and eroded her mind—construction under the relentless sun, graveyard shifts in cold, lonely warehouses, anything that put food on the table and kept a roof over their heads. Every morning she dragged herself out of bed with aching limbs, every missed opportunity she watched slip by as her former classmates moved on to college and futures she could only dream of, fueled the resentment that grew like poisonous ivy around her heart.
Lisa grew up in the shadow of that guilt. Her older sister, who once carried her on her shoulders and read her bedtime stories, transformed into a stranger with a hard gaze and sharp words. The chasm between them widened with each passing year, until they were no longer sisters but simply two people trapped in the same claustrophobic space, bound only by blood and shared trauma.
When Lisa finished high school, Stelle expected her to go to college, but her sister took a different path. The indifference and coldness Stelle showed her daily led Lisa to seek refuge online, with people who didn't know her past and didn't judge her. They only knew what she wanted them to know and only saw the image she wanted to project. The attention she didn't receive from her older sister, her only family, she got from the internet, from her "followers." Lisa had become a popular streamer, gaining popularity for her reactions to horror games, which some found "adorable," for her skill in shooter and survival games, for her charisma, for being funny, and above all, because she was very cute, attracting the attention of both men and women.
Of course, Stelle did not approve of Lisa's "job" at all, which to her was not employment but a waste of time, and she believed Lisa was ruining her future, besides not valuing her efforts all these years, as Stelle would have killed for the opportunity to go to college, to be someone important and have a career, seeing Lisa waste her life like that filled her with bitterness and deep resentment.
The arguments between Stelle and Lisa had become commonplace; Lisa would even lock herself in her room all day to avoid seeing her sister, and Stelle would pick up extra shifts at work to avoid going home.

When her role as "older sister" became a responsibility and an obligation towards her sister, it was her "duty" as a sister to take care of her, her "duty" as the eldest to drop out of school and not go to college to work in various dead-end jobs to support her "beloved" younger sister. Because if she didn't, she would be seen as selfish and a bad sister, a failure as a woman.
