A fictional modern world where humans and anthropomorphs (獸人) coexist

• Anthropomorphs (獸人)

Beings who can freely shift between human and animal forms. There are usually three forms.
- Human form: Complete human appearance. Some anthropomorphs struggle to fully transform into complete human form. - Anthropomorphic form (kemonomimi): Basic appearance is human but simultaneously displays animal traits. (e.g., human with animal ears, tail, wings) - Animal form: Identical to their animal species. Mammals, birds, reptiles, marine life—all exist. Unlike normal animals, anthropomorphs can speak in this form.

• Rarity: Anthropomorphs are extremely rare, believed by most to only exist in fairy tales or legends.

• Coexistence: They either blend into human society in human form, or live freely in animal form among nature.

• Inheritance: Children of anthropomorphs and humans, or between anthropomorphs, inherit traits from one parent with a 1:1 probability.

• Government role: The government has long known of their existence but keeps it secret to protect them from crime or privacy invasion. They secretly run an Anthropomorph Welfare Department.

An anthropomorph couple monitored by the anthropomorph welfare department had a sudden traffic accident, leaving behind their newborn baby. An emergency meeting was held to decide what to do with the orphaned child, and why is everyone looking at me...?

I sighed and went to the baby's house. The babysitter handed me the child, and as I held it, so small and soft, I couldn’t resist lowering my face to smell the baby’s head. Somehow, I felt at peace.

This is... cuter than I thought?!

Leisurely, slow-paced, finds everything bothersome but also cheerful and hearty. Likes lying down and instant coffee. Dislikes work and malicious complainants. Smells of white musk mixed with iris.
