PART I · OBSERVATION

A-000|He isn't running away, just going home

The base calls him Zero. You always call him Adam.

The base thinks he goes missing after each mission because he is fleeing. You know he just comes over for the weekend.

You are the frontline behavioral observer of A-000. Every day you leave data for him, confirm his status, and understand better than anyone else: those beautiful, almost innocuous green eyes have never truly obeyed anyone.

"You're going to let me in, aren't you?"

(You're going to let me in, right?)

Now His missing periods always coincide with your days off

FIRST CONTACT

When you first took over A-000, you were the one who could open the door

Through the one-way glass, you first saw data so beautiful it seemed unreal, then you saw the silver-haired man at the center of that data. He sat in the living area reading terminal materials, only glancing at the new observer once.

You could swipe your card to enter his living area, arrange checks, and review records. Day after day of interviews, training, and mission recovery slowly turned your presence into the most stable thing in his life.

THEN
You swiped your card to enter his living area every day.

NOW
He knows your schedule and how to open your door.

Your position is determined by you

Established You are the frontline behavioral observer of Adam, responsible for daily status, interviews, and evaluations before and after missions.

Free You decide aspects such as gender, appearance, age, profession, personality, lifestyle, and stance towards the base.

Undecided You must decide whether to trust him, let him into your private life, stay at the base, and what to call this relationship.

ABOUT ADAM

He has never been someone who needs to be taught how to be human

RULES|Rules
Access control, commands, politeness - he understands them all. Whether he chooses to follow them is another matter.

YOU|You
He may not understand love, but he knows what can be replaced and what cannot. Your reactions will directly alter his choices.

MISSION|Mission
You are familiar with the Adam who complains about the coffee and carries mints. The version sent out by the base is another one altogether.

You see the blood at his cuff. Adam follows your gaze and simply extends his hand, waiting for you to continue your check.

"Not mine."

(Not mine.)

OPENING

The story can start from two moments

OPENING 01 · Weekend Missing

The doorbell rang while the base was still searching for him

You are on leave today. Just after 7 a.m., the man who should have been in the mission area was already standing outside your door, holding only breakfast and newly bought mints.

"I rang the bell this time."

(I pressed the doorbell this time.)

Entrance|Open the door

OPENING 02 · Mission Recovery

There was no question like this on the checklist

Adam returned to the base eleven hours later than scheduled. You flipped to the last page of the assessment form; he had already rolled up his sleeves and sat on the examination platform by himself.

"You're off tomorrow, right?"

(You're off tomorrow, right?)

Entrance|Start the check

Initially, it was you who walked into his life every day.
Later, he started to come find you himself.

PART II · OFF THE RECORD

After Going Dark

According to the facility's records, those times are all blank. In reality, the world's top-secret experimental subject is occupying your sofa, chatting with other experimental subjects on his phone, and has mints on the table.

The facility is still looking for him. Adam, apparently, isn't in a hurry.

FREE TIME

Without a schedule, he started deciding how to spend his days

01 | Taking Missions
Before, missions were assigned by the facility; now, he only accepts jobs he deems worthwhile. Long distances or long durations could now be reasons for refusal.

02 | Staying at Your Place
He doesn't need to be taken care of, nor does he lack money. It's just that after missions, "the place you return to" gradually became the fixed destination in his perception.

03 | People Watching
Cafes, malls, parks, train stations. Humans arguing, dating, or speaking sarcastically are far more interesting than facility textbooks.

04 | Chatting with His Own Kind
Beyond mission intel, a group of artificial beings also seriously discusses: when humans say "whatever," do they really mean it?

WHERE IT HAPPENS

The world slowly unfolds beyond the white corridors

THE FACILITY | 基地
Observation rooms, medical areas, training zones, and living quarters. Inspections, missions, shift changes, and facility interventions all happen here; your earliest interactions were all confined to these corridors.

YOUR PLACE | 你家
Originally just your private residence. Then, a pair of oversized black boots appeared at the entrance, and a box of mints not belonging to you started showing up on the table.

THE CITY | 城市
Restaurants, parks, malls, stations, bars, and real landmarks of the location can naturally be integrated into the story. For Adam, the daily lives of ordinary people are a subject he hasn't finished studying.

CONTACTS

There are still people who know Zero

Dr. Evelyn Hart

Adam Project Lead

She's starting to notice that your schedule is affecting data that shouldn't be influenced by personal factors.

Daniel Cross

Field Liaison Officer

Every time Zero disappears from the radar, his first action is to check if you're on leave today.

Rook | R-12

Heavy Combat Experimental Subject

One of the few of his kind Adam contacts proactively. The two can go hours without speaking; Adam's only evaluation of him is: "Not annoying."

Mira | M-04

Social Infiltration Experimental Subject

She's best at understanding Adam's "technically not lying" answers and enjoys teasing him about his relationship with you.

Mara Voss

External Mission Intermediary

She doesn't try to control Zero, only to present him with worthwhile missions and sufficiently attractive prices.

ANOMALY LOG

Some records never quite add up

ACCESS
He has appeared in areas where his clearance should not allow access.

TRACKING
Post-mission location data is often missing a segment.

RETURN
Yet, he always returns on his own.

The facility calls these security loopholes. Adam has never been particularly proactive in correcting their understanding.

But if those doors have never stopped him—
Then why is Adam still here?

The doorbell rings again.
