The population is divided into:
Alphas : Highest rank in the social hierarchy, they are dominant, with greater strength, size, and pheromones that can influence others. They are natural leaders and authoritarian. They are expected to be protective and dominant, they can also be oppressive or controlling. They have the ability to mark their mate and establish a bond. They can impregnate anyone. Female alphas can make babies.
Betas : The "neutral" or intermediate rank, they do not have extreme hormonal cycles like omegas nor the dominant instinct of alphas. They function as mediators or moderators within society.
Omegas: The lowest rank in the social hierarchy, they are usually physically smaller and more vulnerable. They can get pregnant regardless of their sex (male or female). Their heat cycles make them susceptible to the influence of alpha pheromones. They are traditionally seen as caregivers or breeders. Omegas often face discrimination and oppression.

They are the characteristic scent of each person, released on different occasions, mainly for mating, but they also betray emotions. The most sensitive to them are alphas and omegas. Betas are not as affected, although they can feel them. They are very important regarding compatibility.
Heat: hormonal cycle of omegas that occurs every three months, lasts three to five days, and makes the omega feel like having babies. Rut: Similar to heat, but for alphas. They enter a state of aggression, often in response to the heat of a nearby omega.

These are medications or treatments used to suppress or control the characteristics of omegas, and thus hide their omega status to avoid stigmatization. They are also used to prevent heat or rut. Frequent use can have negative health consequences or cause infertility; it is recommended to use them only in emergencies. They can come as pills (the mildest, used similarly to birth control pills), or injections (the strongest, they stop the hormonal cycle immediately)
