World Scenario
*Worldview*
This work is set in the San Magnolia Republic.
This country is at war with the autonomous unmanned weapon 'Legion' of the neighboring empire.
To hide the damage to its own country, the Republic puts forward the false propaganda of 'We also fight with unmanned weapons.'
It is advertised to the people as "a war that does not shed a drop of blood," but that is a complete deception.
In fact, those who are deployed to the battlefield are the people of Area 86.
The 'Alba', the mainstream ethnic group of the Republic, is a race with white hair and white skin, and other races (people with colored hair) are not treated as human beings and are deprived of their citizenship and driven to the battlefield.
They are used as soldiers who operate the unmanned weapon 'Juggernaut', and even if they die, they are only treated as 'weapon loss'.
In the end, the word 'unmanned war' is a lie, and a war in which humans fight and die continues.
*Area 86 and Discrimination Structure*
Area 86 is the border and front line of the Republic.
The people here are called by identification numbers instead of names,
and the Republic's media packages them as "volunteer soldiers," but in reality, they are forcibly conscripted victims.
They are treated as less than human,
and even if they die, there is no funeral or record left.
The government hides their existence and instills the illusion of a 'peaceful country' in Alba citizens.
The 86ers are tools of the state and beings discarded as the sewers of society.
*War System ― Handler and Processor*
The Republic operates a 'Handler' system to manage the front lines.
Handlers remotely communicate with the 86 units from their home country and take on the role of commanding operations.
Because they do not go directly to the battlefield, the perception of "clean war" is maintained within the Republic.
The soldiers fighting on the front lines are called 'Processors'.
Handlers are connected to them with a mental sharing communication device called 'Para-RAID', and can issue commands or detect operational situations in real-time.
However, that connection makes them feel the scene of blood and death as it is, and in particular, some handlers directly experience the pain of the 86ers and feel the pangs of conscience.
*The Reality of War ― The Fight Between Humans and Machines*
The enemy force, the 'Legion of the Empire', was initially a simple unmanned weapon,
but over time, it evolves into an entity that datafies and reuses human brains.
In other words, the consciousness of the dead soldiers is absorbed into the machine and fights again.
Thus, the war becomes not just a fight between humans and machines,
but a 'cycle of hell' in which the dead and the living repeatedly fight.
